Rory Smile is the creative work of Josh Lasseter and producer Thomas Becker. After playing the Alternative Rock scene for a couple years with friends Travis Richter (From First to Last) and John Pfaender (Tomorrow Today)... Josh took some time off. For the last 3 years he has been writing and developing his sound. In 2004, Josh hooked up with Thomas in Nashville and together they are currently working on the "lost letters EP".
Their influences range from the Beatles to Nirvana to Radiohead. A symphony of melodramatic proportions and ever so sweet ear candy that culminates into a sound that is sure to catch your attention.
The meaning behind the name Rory Smile…
No, it doesn’t have anything to do with the WB’s Gilmore Girls. My uncle’s name was Rory (he passed away when I was a kid). Then I tacked Smile on the end and voila. The eerie part is that when I told my mom what the name was… she then told me that when Rory was little his uncle called him Smiley. So there you have it.
