"Rose Rodriguez Ep Release"

Honduran singer Rose Rodriguez can mold her voice to fit many different genres, having done equally impressive versions of “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman and Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart’s “Black Coffee.” It’s hard to believe it’s the same person singing both covers. Her debut single “Closer” is a bright and sunny upbeat soul-pop number — ideal for a summer day. Rodriguez will celebrate the release of her EP Rose Gold this weekend, where she’ll be joined by Laurel and the Love-In, a bright spot for anyone who’s still bitter about The White Stripes’ breakup. They’ve got a blues-rock sound that channels Elephant and vocals from frontwoman Laurel Sorenson that vaguely evoke Jack White’s. Meanwhile, fellow opener Noah Vonne’s new EP, Poor in Peace, features the folk/Americana sound of the title track alongside “Through With You,” a soul- and R&B-hewing song reminiscent of Amy Winehouse.
