a lyrical and vocal power-house of a gal who slides between melancholy irish folk melodys and honky tonk rock and roll..the hair will catch your eye and the voice will catch your heart...

Biography

Hailing from inner-city Boston, DC singer-songwriter Rose carries one heck of a story. Born into one of the "communities" of the 1960's, Rose was raised surrounded by musicians of the Cambridge folk scene, most notably her uncle, Jim Kweskin of the beloved Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band, who has played with everyone from Bob Dylan to Janis Joplin.
Rose grew up on stages all across the country singing old-timey country, jazz and blues. So, no surprise, when she began taking her own path and writing music, it came out in Americana form, an amalgamation of American music. Rose has performed recently on stages with John Doe, Vashti Bunyan, Maria Muldaur, John Sebastian, and Brandon Butler.
"Rose's self-assured, not-strictly-conventional songs and sweet voice bring to mind '80s college rock faves such as the Sundays and Edie Brickell."

Lyrics

Someone's Kind

Written By: Rose

stop that man
the thief who stole my heart
he up and ran
and left me here
with a pile of made up memories
half truths and songs to cry
oh why, oh why
oh why can't i be your baby doll
i guess i'm not your kind of girl
but i've got to be someone's kind
i've got to be someone's kind
someone's kind
well i figured that
you'ld be here tonight
and i thought i'd check
and see if you just might
be needing some love
or just a friend to hold you right
oh why, oh why
oh why can't i be your baby doll
i guess i'm not your kind of girl
but i've got to be someone's kind
i've got to be someone's kind
someone's kind

Another Sad Song

Written By: Rose

waiting baby in the dusk
my heart will cry until it rusts
you've sunk me low
i keep waiting for those eyes
to gaze at me and then that smile
but you've sunk me low
what more can i ever do
to make it clear i'm mad for you
so i'll write you another sad song
and i'll pray to god you'll come along
'till you can't help but see
i'm the love you need
lead me on, make me smil
let me hope for a while
you've sunk me low
my little heart's a tough old thing
through all this sorrow i can sing
you've sunk me low
if you want me kiss me now
if you don't i'll live somehow
and i'll write you another sad song
and i'll pray to god you'll come along
'till you can't help but see
i'm the love you need
