Bio
RoseBud Blue is a band 28 years in the making and the realization of a childhood dream for band leaders Jenny Lynn Williams and Angela Personeni. While growing up together in the presence of California bluegrass pioneers such as Vern and Del Williams and Ray Parks, and while soaking up the music that was a constant part of their childhood homes, Jenny and Angela decided early on to create a bluegrass band together. After many years of performing separately the two have finally realized their childhood dream of forming a band together and what a band it is!
RoseBud Blue is centered on Jenny Lynn Williams and Angela Personenis deep love and understanding of the roots of bluegrass music. Their harmonies are both beautiful and edgy, and their sense of timing and musicality is as closely matched as any two people could be. Providing the rhythm of the group, Angela on bass and Jenny on guitar, the two both write new songs for the band repertoire and share vocal duties.
Attacking the banjo with unprecedented taste and timing is Billy Moore. Billy was first drawn to bluegrass music at the age of 13. He sought out local legends to tutor him, and quickly emerged as one of Californias foremost banjo players. Deeply rooted in the traditional side of bluegrass, Billy also provides new music to the bands repertoire and lends his dynamic vocal ability on baritone and an occasional lead.
Matt Dudman is one of Californias most innovative and dynamic mandolin players, while still maintaining a sound that is wholly traditional. A native of California, Matt spends much of his time studying, performing and recording bluegrass music. A true bluegrass aficionado, Matt brings energy and zest to the group.
Joining the band on fiddle are some of Californias top musicians, such as bluegrass legends Paul Schelasky and Ed Neff. Whichever one takes over instrumental duties you can bet it is great (as these guys always are).
Together these five individuals create an experience that is unlike any other in music today. The shared love and zeal for the music is clearly passed to their audience, which keeps them coming back for more. The torch of traditional bluegrass has been passed to RoseBud Blue, and they carry it proudly.
