Rose of York

Infectious melodies and dynamic chord progressions have come crashing to Australia’s shores via Sydney’s punchy three piece rock outfit, Rose of York.

Since 2007 Rose of York have been writing and performing tirelessly, developing captivating sounds for shows they can truly call their own.

Growing up along Sydney’s southern beaches, the boys have been performing together since their teens, allowing them to craft their own unique signature in the Australian music scene. Their distinguished and hard-hitting sound is a product of three distinctive musical minds, led by Chris Paton on vocals/guitar, Jason Ambler on bass and Darrel Waugh behind the drums. While accomplished individual musicians in their own right, together the trio transfigure their sound resulting in a sonically enriched, unparalleled brand of rock ‘n’ roll.

Borrowing the pop sophistications of Lennon and McCartney and coupling it with the rhythm and showmanship of Muse, frontman Paton characterises their music as an infusion of, “Radiohead’s musical depth, colliding with the rawness of Nirvana”, leaving Rose of York with an edge that the Australian rock scene has been thirsty for.

After numerous successful shows at iconic venues such as; The Annandale, The Sandringham Hotel, The Hopetoun, Caringbah Bizzos and Manly Fishos, Rose of York have seen their fan base multiply and lust for bigger shows, leaving them with an unabated hunger for more.

Rose of York have recently released their ‘Shine’ EP where the band has been fortunate enough to work with some of Australia’s top music industry minds in Wayne Connolly and Leon Zervos. ‘Shine’ is available now through the band’s MySpace site or can be downloaded straight from iTunes.
