Bio
Rosie Tucker is a songwriter, composer, and performer based in Los Angeles.
She has performed her songs in a great variety of Los Angeles venues ranging from DIY spaces to more established rooms like The Bootleg, The Hotel Cafe, The Troubadour, and The Hi-Hat. In the fall of 2016 she toured as a OneBeat fellow. Onebeat is a cultural diplomacy collaboration between Found Sound Nation and the U.S. Department of State. In addition to her solo pursuits, Rosie writes with and plays bass in Gypsum, a post-rock band.
In May of 2016 she received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California. During her time in university, Rosie released Lowlight (her first album of original songs), composed music for short films, collaborated and performed with Sokamba Performing Arts Company, and lent her poetry and music to The Altar Collective (a literary magazine and arts collective).
In the interest of cultivating a more inclusive music industry, Rosie co-founded Musicians Unite in Support of Equality, a student group dedicated to connecting and educating aspiring female music professionals. Inspired by MUSE, Rosie’s undergraduate thesis project investigated gender disparities in post-secondary audio-technology education in the United States.
