""A Different Place in Time" Album Review"

The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native transplanted in Denver, Colorado, Ross Miller, aka Ross Pennock, just dropped his newest album today, A Different Place in Time. This follow up to his 2014 album, Don't Stand Still, starts off strong with "Falling." Definitely not out of sight, and certainly not out of mind, he sets the stage for killer things to come through the rest of the album. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Dylan West, aka Dylan Jaymes, this album represents a progression of skills and a relentless desire to achieve great things by these two. This skill is ever-present in "Hardly Finished" where production and articulation of a vision come to the forefront. Catchy and powerful with a unique touch of glitchy bass-driven beats, the vocals by Ross are carried along while flawlessly keeping the listener entranced throughout its entirety. "Get Your Own" has an R. Kelly type of vibe to it, without the golden showers. I don't want to ruin the rest of the album for you, so I'm going to let you listen to the remaining songs and draw your own conclusions. Overall, this is great release by a good friend of mine that I only see achieving more and more because of his relentless drive to carve a name for himself in the music world. Cannot wait to see what the future holds for Ross Pennock and Dylan Jaymes. Available for free download through the Mile High Sound Movement bandcamp: HERE. - Ikonic Sound

"Ross Pennock gets Remixed by ill-Esha (Waxhole Exclusive)"

Ill-esha, one of my favorites in the music business, has given us a remix to host as an exclusive, and we are so stoked to bring it to you. A grooving remix of Ross Pennock’s tune ‘Power Trip’ off of his album he released late last year, brings forth his vocals in the emotive and airy original that turns into a seductive smoldering endeavor once ill-esha gets her mitts on it.

Ill-esha has been featured on here many many times, and for good reason. Her tunes have always been bass heavy, and have always held so much fire that you know the inspiration and the vibes came deep from within her. She never skimps on the sub-rumblings, and she never skips the chance to get grooving, and both apply in spades here.

Then we have Ross Pennock, like ill-esha, a Denver denizen, who released an album (HERE) that features 12 tunes of him singing over various vibes and productions, showcasing his vocal work that interchanges with singing, that works around melodic, harmonious, and even a little rap sprinkled in there to keep you guessing. Ill-esha’s production proves a perfect backdrop for his vocals and this remix is a wonderful addition to the great tunes ill-esha has given us through the years.

So check the tune, follow Pennock (Soundcloud, Facebook), and ill-esha (Soundcloud, Facebook) and show them some love for not only this track, but for letting us host the tune as an exclusive just for you all. Like I said, ill-esha is one of the best in the game. Trust. - Waxhole Records

"New Music Video "Power Trip""

We can’t stop watching this new video from Sioux Falls artist Boss Miller.

Like the song? Get a free download here and keep an eye out for his new album Don’t Stand Still that drops in February.

“The video turned out better than I ever could have imagined,” said Boss Miller. “We didn’t play it safe, but everyone really cared about the final product and we built a lot of trust.”

The model in the video is also the director, Samantha Wakefield, who is a Sioux Falls native but coordinated with the artist from her current home in Chicago.

“The song is actually about a relationship my friend was in a little over a year ago. I wrote it as if I were him,” he explained about the single “Power Trip.” “I was intrigued by the socioeconomics of the relationship.”

In regards to the R&B genre: “R&B has become much less innocent in the last few years… It’s getting gritty, complicated, sinful, even. I wanted to contribute to that movement.”
