Rough Cut is currently in talks with various record labels. They promote and archive all of their live shows at this point, which has been a smashing, alternative approach to accepting the first label that comes to them. They have massively distributed thousands of demos, which has reaped large dividends in various cities. Rough Cut is also planning on recording and releasing an upcoming major show as part of a massive promotional effort.

FOR PROMOTERS: We actively promote every single show. Promotions include a constant stream of "brand" promotions in the area, matched with targeted event promoting for a specific venue. We stand by our draw estimates and will fly to another city to personally spread the word in new territories. We have proven our tactics with many successful shows in new places, and continue to work constantly to gain mainstream recognition.

AND NOW FOR THE BIO...Rough Cut developed as 4 musicians' vision of splicing pop-oriented rock and roll with a gritty, Chicago blues sound. Soaring vocals and angry guitars combine with a relentless rhythm section to form a radio friendly sound, only matched by that of their live sets which have been described as "refreshing," "crisp" and "loud."

Rough Cut started as an unproven local band at the bottom of the Chicago music scene and has evolved into a headlining, weekend act at just about every major venue in their home city as well as a consistent success for talent buyers in unproven cities. They have recently drawn massive crowds to top Chicago venues such as Bottom Lounge, Beat Kitchen, and Double Door, while always making a lasting impression in supporting time slots on the road.

One memorable instance in early July, 2009, which marked the moment where the band realized they were "catching on," was when they played a show at the legendary, Chicago neighborhood bar and venue, Bird's Nest, and were worried about hometown turnout because all of their friends were unavailable that evening. The venue ended up filling to capacity with 21+ strangers who researched the bands tour schedule on their own intuition. This was an unbelievably humbling moment for the band, as well as silent recognition for their relentless work ethic and exhausting tour schedule, all while rarely making any profit at all.

Rough Cut has taken a creative approach to their online music catalogue. Rough Cut makes pro-quality, live recordings of each show in order to keep popular songs featured on their web page fresh, and listeners coming back. They offer free, constantly updated live versions of popular tracks on their web page, which is a unique strategy developed in order to keep fan content fresh while maintaining potential record value for prospective labels and publishers.

Rough Cut grew up listening to Jimi Hendrix, Guns 'n' Roses, Nirvana and The Beatles. They spent high school and college following Phish across the U.S. and expanding their mind into new, worldly musical genres. They've brought together pop, rock, blues and jazz, often with a non-overwhelming dash of improvisation which makes every show unique, and they've created something entirely different than what's currently available in the main-stream music market.
