Bio

Rough Days For Diamond Trade is the solo project of the Copenhagen/Berlin based musician and award winning filmmaker Frederik Sølberg. For the last 10 years Frederik has been a key figure on the Copenhagen indie scene as a member of the highly acclaimed bands Ghost Society and Lake Placid, a respected and noted remixer and as a director of music videos and live visuals for prominent indie acts.
In 2010 Frederik started to transform unrest into beats and solitude into songs. On his own in Madrid, Copenhagen, Berlin and Los Angeles he would spend nights writing and producing songs and developing a genuine personal expression with a significant Scandinavian touch.
A twist of reverbed and distorted guitars, pumping beats and gloomy catchy synths topped off with Frederik’s charismatic and androgynous voice. The sound of broken hearts on a dance floor. Like dreams marching in time. There is already a huge buzz about the project in the blogosphere and among musicians and firstmovers.
This is only stressed looking at the people Frederik decided to work with: Award winning musicians Cæcilie Trier (Chimes & Bells, CTM) and Jannis Noya Makrigiannis (Choir Of Young Believers) are featured on the EP, it is mixed by award winning producer Anders Rhedin (who produced the first COYB album), and mastered by Mikkel Gemzøe (who has worked with acts like When Saints Go Machine & Medina).
The music video for the first single ”Anywhere” is an erotic and melancholic the-day-after dance tour de force directed by Frederik, and is followed up by remixes by Legowelt, Boom Clap Bachelors, and Money Your Love.
The debut EP is released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on the magic date 12.12.12 and on 01.03.13 in the UK.
