Rouletta — Rouletta
Produced by Danny Song at Glow In The Dark Studios in Atlanta, GA
Mastered at Rodney Mills Masterhouse

By their own admission, the members of Georgia’s Rouletta aren’t trying to create anything new. Rather, their mission statement is a manifesto that aims to take something that is fine the way it is — rock ‘n’ roll — and play the hell out of it. Judging from their recordings on this release, they’ve accomplished what they set out to do, in spades. The only negative thing to say about this self-titled EP is that it’s not an LP. This is fun, rollicking music that could put a smile on the sourest puss.

The four songs that make up this disc evoke the swagger and slink of The Black Crowes in their glory days. All of the ingredients are here: a greasy rhythm section, soulful, Steve Marriot-inspired vocals and crunching guitars in the vein of Humble Pie and Mick Taylor-era Stones.

Things get started with a lunge from the gate in the form of the song “She Shakes N’ Moans,” which has a great groove, tasty Fender Rhodes piano and enough horny imagery to get you gassed up for a Friday night.

Another highlight, “Knuckle Up the Boys,” has some of tastiest guitars you’ll ever hear and, mixed with some sublime Hammond backing and a salacious vocal delivery, you get genuine rock AND roll — remember when “roll” was part of the equation? The set closes with vocalist Chase declaring “I Want More.” So do we.

Bio

We play Rock n' Roll, and this is how it ought to sound. Rouletta's Danny Song may have found the simplest way to describe his intricate, flashy guitarplay. Rouletta plays dead on, that's plain and true. They're not trying to reinvent the wheel, they just want their turn to drive it hard. Steering it all below the Mason-Dixon, this inspired sextet hailing from Atlanta, Georgia proudly continues The South's fine musical heritage. Rouletta's unique, yet instantly familiar sound reflects their love of such mainstays as Petty, Mellencamp, and other artists who have forever changed the experience of being young... American, unapologetically free, with abandon and spirit. Singer Chase Schell belts out powerful vocals with a smoothness that seems almost effortless, immediately distinct and definitely unforgettable. Whether on stage or through your speakers, their songs get you moving without fail, three and half minutes at a time, every time. Rouletta's kept it close to home these last two years, doing a damn fine job of crowd pleasing and bringing some much needed musicianship and soul to this generation. Now it's time to venture out, and show the rest of the world a good time, 'cuz that's what they do best.
