Bio
Rover is a five-piece rock collective, based in Asker in the outskirts of Oslo. The Illumination – the debut album the band had been working on since late 2006, was released in april 2011. Producer fee, studio rent, mixing and mastering has all been financed by the bandmembers themselves, and they have invested countless working hours in the effort of creating something completely new, both musically, lyrically and visually.
Every piece of composition, every line of word, the music videos and the cover artwork is produced by the band, and central components in their thematical concept are humanity's connection to the universe, spirituality, apocalypse/ reincarnation and extraterrestrial life. And of course love, sorrow, dreams and hope.
In 2010, Rover was awarded “Best Up and Coming Act of 2010” by the most influencial Norwegian music magazine MusikkPraksis.
Editor-in-chief Rolf Graf, a well-known figure in Norwegian music industry, backed the jury's decision with the following statement:
“Rover produces catchy and epic rock with pop elements, but their approach is more British than American. Drummer Bommen, guitarist Silver, bassist Andy, synth/pianoplayer Johnny and singer Troll, has actually managed to remain unsigned dispite their wellcrafted and catchy songs, stunning production and cool arrangements. Rover was a clear favourite among the jury, and they also got the highest number of votes [through the MusikkPraksis' readers poll]”
