Bio

Using her music as a way to express herself in ways
that may not always come through in everyday conversation, Rowena's music speaks to the emotional connection between herself and the audience. Classically trained on the piano since the age of 6, Rowena joined her first band, Triplesept, at 21 after teaching herself to play the guitar.

After the band parted ways in 2002, Rowena has spent her time at University pursuing a degree, while always keeping a hand on her music. Writing songs about personal struggle and relationships, her music has influences from singer/songwriter artists like Sheryl Crow, and Sufjan Stevens, for example. Some other influences also include bands like Metallica, Tool, The Most Serence Republic, Refused, and Dakona, for example.

In 2003, Amnesty International put out a call for independent artists across Canada to send in music that had themes relating to human rights and the power of music to speak to it. Writing a song for Amnesty International's Stop Violence Against Women Campaign, Rowena's single was chosen for the compilation CD, which was subsequently released in 2003.

Rowena is currently recording a demo EP, which will be used for promotion and shows.
