Bio

With roots in rock, R&B, jazz, and country, Roxanne Beck is a genre-busting singer and songwriter. Originally from Arkansas, her career began in Nashville, where she found work as a demo and back-up singer. But an interest in other styles of music led her to New York City. There she began to develop her unique style, singing in cabaret venues and clubs. A move to Los Angeles in 2003 led to the production of her first jazz CD, "Comes Love" (2008). Produced by Grammy nominee Bud Harner, arranged by Jon Cowherd (Lizz Wright, Carla Cook), John Pondel and Louis Durra, the album includes 11 eclectic covers of jazz and pop standards that the Arkansas Democrat Gazette called “lovely … heartfelt … striking.” Beck’s version of Billie Holliday's “Comes Love,” featuring chart-topping guitarist Paul Brown, received airplay on over 35 stations nationally in 2008. Special guest Jeff Golub lends his guitar chops to “Everlasting Blues,” “Dirty Work,” and “In the Garden.” The CD also features Pondel and Jay Gore on guitar, Durra and Rodney Lee on piano, Larry Antonino, Matt Bissonette, and Jeff Falkner on acoustic bass, Harner, Dave Karasony and Henry Newmark on drums, and Ron Pedley on Hammond B3 organ. "Comes Love" is available at roxannebeck.com, CDBaby.com, and on iTunes (more info at roxannebeck.com).
