Roxie Watson

Roxie Watson is what we call ' alterna-Grass', born out of jam sessions in the living room, and named after Lenny's Grandmother, and Beth's Grandmother respectively, RW has grown into a popular string band playing alot of festivals, private parties, and some of the premier listening rooms in the Atlanta area. This is not your typical bluegrass, no high speed madolin or guitar solos, just great melodic and rhythmic toe tappin' music that will warm your soul. We claim alot of our songs to be 'true stories', some of which really are true stories.. Awesome 3 part harmonies, and influenced by the likes of Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Gillian Welch, Chet Atkins, Hank Williams Sr, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, The Carter Family, and Earnest Tubb, just to name a few. Roxie Watson plays songs by all of these artists, as well as our own originals.
Even with 5 members, we once managed to fit everyone, and our gear, enroute to the Stokin' The Fire Festival in Birmingham Alabama, into a Subaru Outback.. We even had a little leg room to spare..
Roxie Watson has been around about 2 years, and some of our members have extensive stage and performance time. Sonia Tetlow is a multi- instrumentalist who has her own singer-songwriting career, as well as spending 2 years as bass player with the band Cowboy Mouth. Linda Bolley is also a talented drummer, (she also plays a mean guitar with Roxie) who spent 5 years touring as the drummer with singer/songwriter Michelle Malone. Beth Wheeler also has alot of tour-time under her belt, playing bass with regional and national rock acts, and singer songwriters, until finding her home with the mandolin in Roxie Watson.
