"Perth Artists Rock Paramount"

"Perth's urban fans, artists and DJs gathered in hordes last night at the Paramount Nightclub in Northbridge for the bi-annual Groove Party hosted by local urban music station Groove 101.7 FM.

With an estimated turnout of several thousand people throughout the evening, the night was a smorgasbord of great urban mixes, club anthems and live performances with upstairs and downstairs sections providing seperate entertainment at all times.

The most memorable acts for the evening included a surprise appearance of DJ Karl Blue and the guest performance of local artist Roy-Al, who recently appeared on Nova 93.7's Urban Essentials with Nick Alexander and Brett Costello. The artist performed several tracks, including 'Lose Control' featuring Cristian Alexanda, which has been nominated for this year's WAM song of the year title in the urban and main categories..." - Imagine Music Publishing

Bio

From Australia’s west coast capital city Perth comes a whole new flavour in hip-hop; Roy-Al. The 22-year-old rapper has spent more than a decade becoming fully immersed in the hip-hop scene. Committed to his music, the prodigal rapper draws powerful influence from the greatest that history has afforded the genre, ranging from the indisputable classic work of Tupac Shakur to modern day legends such as Lecrae, Lupe Fiasco & Chamillionaire. Uniquely Australian, Roy-Al draws further inspiration from rock elements including Bon Jovi and our own John Farnham, which makes for unique twists in instrumentals that embody a fantastic vibe infused with a positive message for listeners of all walks of life.

“I’ve been given a vision; it’s now on me to make it happen.” he states.

To the diligent rapper, the work produced is more than just music; it’s a way of life. Every track composed from the beat, through the expression, all the way through to the mastered product is imbued with a passion for excellence and a strict perfectionism that the best musicians are all blessed with.

“If music isn’t made with a whole heart, it should just be listened to.”

A full-time musician for several years now at the helm of production at UG Records in Perth, Roy-Al’s ambitions strive not just to be famous or broadcast, but moreover to be a positive role-model to anyone who takes the time to listen to his message. Above all, the Sydney-born rapper wants to make a difference to the world that we live in.

“If one song off my album can change the life of one person for the better, then it’s all been worth it.”

Working towards ambitious goals with a powerful drive for the causes he believes in, Roy-Al is a passionate musician seeking to improve with every track put down and every performance. In doing so, the rapper’s work presents a positive alternative to many of the influences prominent today, but offers a flavour just as hot if not more so. Every lyric put down is one that Roy-Al believes in; he doesn’t just say things.

“Only God knows where we’ll be tomorrow, so today I wanna do all I can do to be all I can be.”

Testament to his character as an artist as well as a producer and a colleague, Roy-Al is held in high regard with everyone he’s worked with, including artists such as Cristian Alexanda and many local DJs in Perth who are now making their way up the charts themselves. His music is produced with confidence and integrity that can only come from an artist with a vision and with the certainty he’ll turn those dreams into a reality.

“I’m definitely steppin’ with God, that’s why I’m confident in everything I do.”

Roy-Al is most definitely one of the realest rappers on the scene today, and he takes pride in that. Every performance is not just a show, but an electric event to be remembered by all present. For any listener in the world, irrespective of their preconceived views towards hip-hop music, Roy-Al definitely has something to offer; listen for yourself and you will know…

“There’s no-one like me; I guarantee that.”

His debut album, Rule & Reign will hit the scene in Australia by December this year, comprising a smorgasbord of upbeat, positive tracks transcending a range of flavours, themes and emotions. There’s something for everyone in this album, with single Lose Control already being nominated for the WAM Urban song of the year. (Award to be announced late October)

Tour and appearance dates are not yet confirmed, but be sure to watch out for performances this summer; they’ll be off the hook.

The urban revolution in Australia takes a serious and interesting twist with this album. Forget everything you thought you knew about hip hop and let the music speak for itself…
