"Stonefield @ Ding Dong Lounge"

Who the hell are support act Royal Blood and where did they come from? Boasting a unique combination of heavily distorted bass being played like a lead guitar and the sort of drummer who’s a cross between Jack Black, Nick Frost, Dave Grohl and Animal from The Muppets, this White Stripes/early Queens of the Stone Age hybrid are a monstrous band who play a monstrous style of rock and roll. Check out their tracks on Unearthed, and if you get a chance to see them live and catch a facefull of their sweat, do it. The Vulture was very impressed, and counting ourselves lucky that we arrived in time to see them.

"Stonefield 7th July 2012 @ Ding Dong Lounge"

Royal Blood were up next and from the very second they stepped on stage they packed a massive chest-thumping punch. No one was expecting such explosive and loud sounds to come from a band made up of a drummer and a bloke playing a bass guitar as if it were a lead. Not a bad word was said about the act; in fact, the only disappointing thing for many was that there wasn’t an EP on sale after the gig. - Tone Deaf

"Tape/Off, Royal Blood, Cannon, Queen Slander @ The Zoo, Brisbane (23/06/2012)"

Royal Blood – a band formed in the United Kingdom but residing in Northern NSW, are just a two piece with drums and bass but deliver the biggest opening of the night. A massive animalistic drum beat and wicked bass riffs with plenty of reverb rock the venue to its core. A massive voice from singer Michael Kerr fills the venue while Matthew Swan’s drumming is spot on.

As the band rip through their killer set I’m starting to think that this may be one of the best bands I have seen in quite some time and definitely some of the best new music out there. The sound that is pulsating throughout the venue is unbelievable, the biggest sound all night as the whining bass guitar riffs sound like they are about to shred your ears off and the drums feel like they could knock you down. Royal Blood remind you very much of The White Stripes…on steroids, as song after song is absolutely perfect in every sense. Not a mistake is made and the music that they are playing sounds as though they have been playing for many years. However, upon finding out they have only been together for 3 months you know that this band is going somewhere big as they deliver an onslaught of rock and roll. - Fasterlouder.com.au

Bio

Royal Blood are a two piece formed in Brighton, UK. A combination of Bass Guitar, crunching drums and stellar vocals have brought the band plenty of attention both in Australia and the UK.

After a brief stint in their hometown, Brighton, Royal Blood took their talents overseas to Australia in 2012 with a year abroad. 2012 saw the band support Australian heavyweights such as Stonefield, Bleeding Knees Club and Children Collide, plus join New Zealand's Die!Die!Die! on their Queensland tour.

Extensive Australian touring in 2012 brought them attention from premier media outlets such as Fasterlouder and Music Feeds, with high praise from their live reviews.

The band returned to the UK in late 2012 to record their debut EP at Rockfield Studio, home to the creation of records by artists such as Queen and Oasis. The self-titled EP is due for release in April 2013, with an EP tour in both Australia and the UK to follow.
