Biography

Biographical Sketch For:

ROY EDWARDS
Contemporary Christian Artist
Soulful Music for a World of Souls

To characterize Roy's style of music would be to place him somewhere near a Rich Mullins sound. Roy brings a great deal of passion to his heartfelt lyrics interwoven within intriguing melodies. Roy's closest fans have applauded his originality and also for introducing his listeners to a peaceful and soulfelt musical journey.

Roy's background related to music began simply enough. Roy's musical journey began when his Daddy purchased him a Ukulele at the ripe age of 5. It was here that Roy's love affair with stringed instruments began, as well as his first songs were composed. Somewhere around the age of 9 his Mother bought him an electric guitar, similar to a Fender Stratocaster. This was in the summer of '69, and The Beatles became a heavy influence.

At the age of 10 his Daddy gave Roy a small-bodied Martin Classical guitar, and the rest as they say became musical history. Roy's love of the guitar was now firmly entrenched and he would never look back.

Throughout his teen years Roy continued to basically self-teach himself various licks and techniques of chord progression. His formal teaching consisted of about 6 weeks with a teacher at the Donelson Music Center in the Donelson Plaza in Donelson, TN (a small suburb just outside Nashville, TN).

On through his teen years, mostly Rock ‘n Roll and Soft Pop musicians influenced Roy, such as: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dan Fogelberg, Kansas, James Taylor, and Paul McCartney. These early influences still color many of Roy's own creations to this day. Continuing on through his college years at Belmont University, Roy’s love for music still endured even through the increased load of intense studies!

Today finds Roy having come full circle. At this season of mid-life, at the age of 44, Roy has come full circle back to his Christian musical roots and is pursuing his life's Big Dream. That Dream being, to live out the musical gifting by which God has blessed him.

Roy feels that his active involvement in living out his musical gifts and writing is finally answering God's call. This is paramount for Roy to be obedient in joining His Heavenly Father in His work.

Roy credits Rich Mullins as the single most important influence in strengthening his faith and belief for fulfilling his God given call to step out in complete trust and be used of God through his music.

So you are witnessing the beginnings of what we all hope will become the life long remainder of Roy's contribution to this life. That being to touch many, many lives all by the most universal of all languages - the beautiful language of Music.

Roy is now answering the call of God's true purpose for his life. Roy's gift to the world is a smooth pop oriented sound that uniquely calms the heart & soul in a very hectic & often chaotic world. " I'm just grabbing hold of God's sufficient grace and letting go all at the same time, building upon one day at a time, in order that I may be all that God desires me to be. I hope you find the peace of God in my music and it helps you sense the presence of Jesus in an even greater way within your personal spiritual walk."

Jude 1:2,17-23 Psalms 119:173-175

Mercy like a miracle, rained down on me
The power of Christ from calvary
Sweet salvation set me free
I asked and I received
Mercy like a miracle, rained down on me

Mercy like a miracle, rained down on me
The power of Christ from calvary
Sweet salvation set me free
I asked and I received
Mercy like a miracle, rained down on me

Mercy like a miracle, rained down on me
The power of Christ from calvary
Sweet salvation set me free
I asked and I received
Mercy like a miracle, Mercy like a miracle, Mercy like a miracle,
rained down on me

Mercy like a miracle, rained down on me
The power of Christ from calvary
Sweet salvation set me free
I asked and I received

Your Heart Will See Me

Matthew 25:34-40

Clothe them and feed them
And share with them manna
Unto the least of these
You do unto me
Clothe them and feed them
And share with them manna
Unto the least of these
You do unto me

There are people, who’ve found misfortune
You can see them, Living on the street
They are also made in my image
Look in their eyes
Your heart will see me

Repeat verse

There are people, who’ve found misfortune
You can see them, Living on the street
They are also a child of my Kingdom
Look in their eyes
Your heart will see me

Shout !

Written By: Roy Edwards

SHOUT
Words & Music by: Roy Edwards
Psalms 32:11, 35:27 Psalms 47:1 Ezra 3:11-13

Woke up this morning, with a smile across my head
Jumped in the shower, singing praises for an hour
I realized I was late, had to jump back in the race
But the one thing I can’t understand
Is the frown across the face of man

Chorus: You better SHOUT!
God’s been good to you and me
You better turn that Spirit out
You better set that Spirit free
You better SHOUT!
God’s been good to you and me
Yeah and I know what I’m talking about
Seen both sides there is no doubt
God’s got a Master Plan
Open up your heart my friend and SHOUT!

Jumped in my car, made my way into work
Put in my 8 hours, gave it all that it was worth
In between work -stations, started sharing His salvation
Because it’s up to you and me
To touch the hearts of all we see

Repeat Chorus

Finished up my day, made my way to my car
Found a Gospel station, raising praise across the nation
On my drive back home, well I knew I was not alone
‘Cause when you know you’re riding right
He’s right there by your side

Repeat Chorus twice
