My private party was exceptional with his goal being to ensure he understood my vision for the evening and incorporated everything he could to meet my expectations. In fact, he exceeded my expectations. His music library is vast and he gave me the opportunity to look through his library and make song selections and special dedications. This enhanced the evening tremendously. The sing-a-long portion of the party was the hit of the night. He led when he needed to and let the guests lead when the spirit moved them. This event celebrated my husband's 55th birthday and was held at Texas Land & Cattle Company Restaurant. Roy Harkey's musical entertainment for the evening was the absolute perfect choice. Roy Harkey has been rated by Gigmasters as a *5 star* entertainer for the past four years in a row, and is currently the Nations #1 ONE MAN BAND. The customer feedback section on his Gigmasters web page points out how much all of his past customers like the music mix he plays and sings, and why they always rate his performances five stars.
Roy started singing and playing bass and guitar in his youth. While in High School, he played string bass with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, and the Oklahoma University Lab Band and Symphony, and while at OU sang and played guitar with local "Rock & Roll" and "Motown/Soul" Band's in the North Texas & Oklahoma areas.
He played bass with the Ike and Tina Turner Review during his early college days and played guitar and sang with over a dozen small to large bands during his music career. He now concentrates on doing a solo act as a Singer/Acoustic-Electric Guitar Player.
Roy has also had the opportunity to sing and play both on and off stage with Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Tommy Castro, Delbert McClinton, Bruce Channel, Harlow Wilcox, Edgar Cruz, and a few other nationally known recording artists.
Roy performed a One-Man-Show in Las Vegas for two years, and now specializes in private parties, house parties, pool parties, cocktail parties, family celebrations, anniversaries, birthdays, wedding receptions, public festivals, corporate functions, restaurants, clubs, and community events.
For his solo performances, Roy uses a foot controlled Porchboard Bass and 'miked' Tambourine to add to his guitar and voice. His style of guitar playing lends itself to a full-sounding "live" accompaniment without the use of pre-recorded tracks, and makes dancing along with the beat easy and fun. He even has electronic 'background singers' that add rich vocal harmonies to round out the sound. People are amazed that all that sound is coming from one man!
He has a very large musical repertoire, and covers most musical styles. Roy enjoys playing Folk, Blues, Old & New Country, Ballads, Folk/Rock, Soft Rock, Rockabilly, Doo Wop's, Golden Oldies and Easy Listening music; and can 'mix' enough different types of music during his sets to please everyone in the crowd. Roy is equally at home at YOUR private house party as he is on a concert stage.
He has high quality instruments and PA sets that will handle any sized venue, from large halls and outdoor events to small parties in private homes. Roy always keeps very good control of the Sound Volume and makes sure it is always at the appropriate level for the event.
Roy often utilizes extra mike's for party goer's when the party host wants a little extra "sing-along-fun" for the guest during the performance. This might not fit in with the event you have planned, but can add an extra level of fun for many private parties and small clubs.
