Mixing numerous influences and styles, Roy Ira are an original Nashville band that create their own brand of country music. Songwriter Keith Parish developed an interest in traditional country songs as a college student studying atonal composition, and while he was drawn to the genre for its simplicity, wit, and gravity, Parish built upon those ideas and merged them with his own influences in the fields of independent rock, Americana, and gospel music.
Writing about love and marriage, death and religion, Roy Ira mix humor and thoughtful introspection to present a variety of songs that vividly reflect common life and emotions in not-so-common ways.
For their sound, Roy Ira depend on the musicianship of a host of local players with assorted musical backgrounds. The band seamlessly glides between string band and modern alt-country outfit, depending on the venue, players and occasion, whether it’s singing acapella arrangements at a local church or amplified guitars and drums for a noisy bar.
