Playing sold out shows using his charismatic stage presence, Chi-Town's own Roy Kinsey is rapidly ascending and has staked a claim as one of the city's hottest young MC's. Roy has immediately built up his reputation by bringing a fresh and honest perspective while incorporating clever and thought-provoking lyrics with an effortless flow that is appealing to all kinds of fans.
Rapping since fifth grade, and taking the game seriously at the beginning of college, Roy Kinsey recently graduated to playing sold out shows by opening for the likes of Keith Murray and Big Sean and also opening for Chicago legends Twista, Shawnna, Malik Yusef, Really Doe and GLC.
Roy Kinsey has captivated audiences across the Chi in venues including Wildhare, Tonic Room, Humboldt Park, and the Logan Square Auditorium while also rocking legendary venues like Hard Rock Hotel's Angels & Kings, Subterranean, Abbey Pub and The Shrine.
Showing the versatility of his live shows, Roy Kinsey played a spirited show at the LaSalle Power Company with 11th hour, his first show featuring a live band. Roy Kinsey has also performed with backing DJ's and even flowed a capella, all without missing a beat.
While unsigned, Roy Kinsey has been apart of the G.O.O.D Music: Flight School Showcase and made his music video debut while being featured in DJ Castle's "Ride." He was featured in the Chicago RedEye newspaper where his song won the Weekly Track off with Kyra Kyles. Roy Kinsey released his first album Keep The Receipt in the Fall of 2010 and shot 3 videos for the album.
The video was a big success, garnering acclaim from the Chicago International Hip Hop Film Festival while helping to put both artists firmly on the map.
Roy Kinsey released his last video called "Rhyming" in April of 2012.
Roy Kinsey, just this past Monday was featured on Chicago's own WGCI segment: Download or Delete for his song Watch It, earning a 91% download. Roy Kinsey is set to release his second album, Rookie Of the Year (R.O.Y) Fall 2012.
