"Rozinante @ The Gig"

Material: Rozinantes’s soft-rock style matches their inspirational, heartbreaking romance ballads. The songs are about having the courage to keep on going despite difficult times, and include interpersonal expression addressed to individuals and the community in general.

Musicianship: Chad Treatman is excellent both as a solo vocalist and when accompanied by Jeff Santiago. Treatman and Santiago’s influences range from Simon & Garfunkel to Sister Hazel, with an occasional touch of Santana thrown in. While the vocals are emphasized, acoustic jamming complements the set along with Alex Bendana’s soft bass and Dustin Jack’s drumming talent.

Performance: Treatman was about a foot taller than Santiago, and they capitalized on this by delivering a joke with a brief microphone switch that had the crowd responding with laughter. Big smiles, good interaction, and a great connection with the audience were maintained throughout Rozinante’s set. They even raised their shot glasses to the fans who were busy buying them drinks thoughout their performance. Rozinante’s talent and natural accessibility allowed them to remain connected with their fans.

Summary: The key to what makes Rozinante’s sound special is the chemistry between Treatman and Santiago. Being backed by a pair of acoustic guitars complements the group’s vocals and adds the bonus of a full band that sparkles and strikes a nice balance. Their soft, pleasant sound is flexible enough for small, intimate venues, as well as clubs and bars where traditional rock bands would be too overpowering.

Bio

Rozinante is groove rock with an ebb n flow that sways between sultry and funky. The music is set by percussive rhythms which lay down a foundation for lyrics that are both a social commentary as well as an interpersonal reflection.

Rozinante was founded by singer/songwriters Jeff Santiago and Chad "Catfish" Treatman. Both are products of New York City, but met and began working together in Los Angeles, where they are now based. Though they started and ended up in the same places, they harmoniously blend their individual experiences into music that expresses their journeys. They enjoy the intimacy of acoustic performances but also wanted to dynamically fill out the sound. So they recruited the dynamic duo of a rhythm section, Dustin Jack (drums) and Alex Bendana (bass). As a full band they’ve been offering up sweet dynamics that fill up larger venues.

Early in 2005 Rozinante released their self titled acoustic EP recorded with producer James Book. Book was the bassist and songwriter for The Flys. Currently Rozinante is back with Book working hard on the full band full length CD.

The name, Rozinante, comes from that which Don Quixote named his trusty steed. Rozinante symbolizes the vehicle that carries us through our experiences and dreams.
