"Live Review 2008"

Dead Letter Office are a triumph; an intense blend of Pixies/Joy Division fractured guitars, breath-taking and delicate Radiohead/Muse tinged anthems and an awe-inspiring sense of drama. Epic and life affirming music. - The Fly

"Review Of Debut Album"

Endlessly interesting, dark alternative rock. A rousing success. - Subba-Cultcha

"Review Of Debut Album"

This band sound little like anyone else out there at the moment. - Kerrang

"Review Of Debut Album"

It's unlikely there will be anything else released this year, that will match this album for dynamic scope and faultless execution. - Hard Rock House

"Review Of Debut Album"

This bands debut album is a classic in the making and a sheer joy from start to finish, purchasing it really should be the least complicated decision you make this year. - Tasty Fanzine

"Review Of New Single"

Midlands rockers Dead Letter Office have the potential to follow near-neighbours Editors into mainstream success. They've already pinched their producer, Gavin Monaghan, and are just as accomplished at soaring choruses and moody moments of reflection. - Die Shellsuit Die!

"Review Of New Single"

Up there with the best songs I think I've heard lately. 'Chairkickers' and 'The Comeback Kid' are emotional, epic and powerful songs - The Mag

"Review Of New Single"

Chairkickers should gain instant indie-anthem status. You’ll find yourself fighting the urge to scream “chairkickers!” randomly for days afterwards, guaranteed. - Alt-Sounds

"Review Of Debut Album"

This quintet from kidderminster have got some serious talent. Straddling the sonic boundaries between muse, interpol and radiohead, their multi-layered brand of haunting melodic rock is a pleasure to digest. Intricate yet powerful drums keep the fires burning behind dark yet deceptively simple guitar hooks and intelligent lyrics. At times epic and pressingly experimental, dead letter office are definately a band worth checking out.

9/10 - ROCKSOUND Magazine

"Review Of Debut Album"

‘Complications’ is a spell binding release which dazzles the listener in so many places. If you are looking for epic and incendiary music then look no further than this firecracker of a debut. - The Plastic Ashtray

Still working on that hot first release.

Bio

Since forming in their infancy back in the early months of 2011, Midlands 4-piece Rubicava have hardly been strangers to misfortune. Formed from the ashes of departed progressive rock outfit Dead Letter Office and after months of solid rehearsal on the cusp of a summer tour, the bands drummer dislocated her knee (just as, if not more painful than it sounds) and was forced to return home to Cornwall to heal. Weeks turned into months as the bands remaining members squirrelled away to write a fresh batch of new material and await their departed comrades return.

By Autumn Rubicava had amassed a collection of almost 20 new songs and when they learned of their former charges intentions to move onto the big smoke following half a year in limbo (otherwise known as 'Falmouth') they set about searching for a new skin slammer. Matthew Bennett (who by chance just so happened to live practically next door to singer/guitarist Benjamin Hiorns) picked up the sticks in November and the last 3 months have seen the band finally back on dry land after 6 months in the shallows. Completing the line-up is Kyle Gayne on bass and Hiorns's fellow ex Dead Letter Office man Jevon Davies on lead guitar.

Taking inspiration from the knowing wit and pop-nous of American bands such as Pavement, Deathcab for Cutie, Pixies, The Replacements and Modest Mouse and infused with the twisted melodic experimentation of Radiohead, The Smiths and The Cure with dashes of Tom Waits and Nick Cave’s dark dramatics, a reinvigorated Rubicava plan on gigging throughout the Spring/Summer following the release of their debut album which is remarkably close to completion.

After that it's all up in the air, but barring any further unfortunate injuries the band hope to make 2012 the year that 2011 could (nay SHOULD) have been.

Here's hoping!
