Bio

Rubix Cuba are constantly performing and touring throughout Australia, having performed or toured with Reel Big Fish (USA), Machine Gun Fellatio, The Hamptons, The Butterfly Effect, The Porkers, Area 7, The Testeagles, Sick Puppies, Unpaid Debt, The Optionals, Laura Imbruglia, STR and Last Year’s Hero.

The band prides itself on its live show, combining music with raw energy, dancing, samples, lights, theme outfits (usually tailored suits, occasionally pajamas) and most importantly Cubie, a giant dancing Rubik’s Cube mascot.

A healthy DIY attitude provided the foundation for With Beauty, the second offering from Rubix Cuba. Recorded and mixed by Sean Brown (ScarChild) and Evan McHugh (The Superjesus, Grinspoon, george) the EP captures Rubix Cuba’s unique and appealing sound.

Rubix Cuba have just completed their annual Winter Promo Tour which took them through 4 Australian states, and of course a big finale in their hometown of Newcastle! The Cubans will be hitting the road again in September when "With Beauty" is released nationally.

Rubix Cuba’s sound – although essentially “rock-with-horns” – is derived from many sources including ska, punk, swing, emo, latin and jazz. Thus, Rubix Cuba has a broad appeal, with a paricular focus on 15-25 year age bracket, which has allowed them to compliment the sounds of numerous international and national touring acts of all genres such as Reel Big Fish (USA) and The Butterfly Effect (AUS).
