"Rubix Cuba support Mad Caddies (US) and Royal Crown Revue (US)"

Royal Crown Review, Mad Caddies and Rubix Cuba playing at the Roundhouse; what a combination, what a diverse crowd. From the serious swing crowd to the pumped up punk rockers, it was a wicked turnout and fun was had by all. Rubix Cuba from Newcastle hit the stage at about 8:30pm with some swing type covers, and a dancing rubics cube that was bopping around the stage flailing its arms for the entire set; very funny. The venue's main floor was only a quarter full, a rather poor turnout, though they didnt let that stop them and by the end of their fourth song they had drawn a large number of people out from the bar. All in all, a high energy, funny antics filled set. Keep an eye on these guys and girls in the future. The floor became crammed as soon as Mad Caddies leaped onto the stage for an action packed fun filled set... -

The Rubiks Cube recently turned 25 and Rubix Cuba have been holding a year long party…tours in Australia and NZ with national and international acts has iced the birthday cake and now that another year has wound down Cubie’s is on the look out for the next party.

Rubix Cuba (definition): a contradiction. Ska for pop fans, pop for ska fans.

Whilst appearing happy on the outside and in their music, Rubix Cuba are a deep and melancholy band (not that you'd guess it) with songs from the heart...which they wear on their shirtsleeves!! The Rubix Cubans bring a ball of energy to any stage and are bouncy, photogenic and annoyingly catchy.

Rubix Cuba draws its influences from a variety of sources including ska, rock, funk, punk, swing jazz, latin and, no surprise, Cuban. This makes the band a musical feast for listeners and a visual carnival for viewers.

The band explodes in a ball of energy on stage with their giant dancing rubiks cube...CUBIE!!!!

Since forming in November 2001, Rubix Cuba has performed a stack of shows, including shows alongside Reel Big Fish, The Porkers, Xavier Rudd, The Butterfly Effect, Cog, After the Fall and Killing Heidi. In recent times Rubix Cuba have also had the privilege to play alongside MXPX (US), Lagwagon (US), Frenzal Rhomb, The Managers (NZ), The Bronx (US), The Von Bondies (US), Suicide Machines (US), The Mad Caddies (US) and Royal Crown Revue(US) as well as at numerous festivals on the East Coast.

So who are these guys and girls? They’re one of Australia’s up and coming acts. Young, versatile and starting to make waves across Australia…and New Zealand.
