Bio

On March 27th, 2003, the multi-award winning T-Dot producer 2Rude’s urban music compilation Rudimental was officially announced certified 4x-platinum. Now known simply as Rude, the producer, songwriter, and remixer has been selling some of the hottest instrumentals to major U.S. artists while playing a large roll in the development of Canadian talent.

1999’s Rudimental, which featured Glenn Lewis, In Essence, Snow, Pharoahe Monch, Saukrates, Jully Black, K-os, and others, was a unique project for it’s time as it was assembled and released under the producer’s name, on his own label-ILL Vibe, and distributed by EMI Music Canada.

“I did it because the labels at the time were saying there’s no hip-hop, R&B, and soul artists here,” Rude explains. “I did it to display who I felt needs to be signed at the moment.”

Rude’ tracks went on to win Juno Awards for best R&B and best single, MuchMusic Video Awards for best R&B video for two consecutive years, and Canadian Urban Music Awards for best male single, as well as producer of the year twice. “I won every award you can win in this country just off one album alone,” Rude says.

Born in Toronto and raised in New York from an early age, Rude returned to Canada at age 18 where he began his entry into the music business. Through his ILL Vibe label, the artist/producer/businessman released tracks by Suakrates, Glenn Lewis, and Jully Black who are three artists now under major U.S. deals. In 1998, he produced the “Country Living” remix for Esthero’s “The World I Know” featuring Goodie Mob, for the Slam soundtrack. Other credits include Rude’ own track, “Innovations”, featuring Suakrates and Pharaoh Monch as well as “Stick To You’re your Vision” and “416/905” which he produced for Maestro.

His sophomore album “D.U.O.” (Do Unto Others), is the epitome of creative music and will supersede any producer in his genre. As Rude states “this is just the beginning”.

As Rude continues to develop artists such as Suni Clay, Faith Walker, and management-mates Untamed, his skills and services in production for artists and songwriters, producer driven A&R, remixing, consulting, and co-writing are leading the Canadian urban music scene far into the new millennium and across the universe.
