"illinois entertainer"

Don't be misled by the ridiculous cover art or their silly moniker; RUDE ROOSTER are not a snotty joke-rock band (the sampled rooster sounds don't even appear until track 13). RR play basic, bluesy metal crunchers with quick excursions into prog-metal country, occasional flare-ups of funk and psychedelic jamming and yes, even roaring cock-rock. Theres also a power-pop number (with guitar most indie bands would kill for) and a track mostly sung in spanish. RR claim their live show is where they really shine and if this is any indication, its probably a sweaty, spirited affair. - patrick conlan

"n y rock"

A quick look over the press kit and the photos on their website and you wouldn't think these guys could rock it up. Hell, they look more like your average joe than metal aficionados. But rock they do, in a 70s Black
Sabbath or
Rainbow kind of way, yet sufficiently sped up. And though the production is a little crowded in spots, and heavy on the midrange, you still manage to feel a ton of energy through the speakers, and chances are these guys put on a hell of a live show. "Student of Misery" sounds like it could be an anthem for the longhair brigade, though the lyrics are a bit serious, dealing with a kid who goes on a shooting spree as he says, "Yes, I know that it's wrong but i dont care, what can you do to me. Yes, I know that I'm young and I'm a straight A student of misery." A PLEASANT SURPRISE. - bill ribas

"music morsels"

Kenosha, Wisconsin's Rude Rooster shows an ability to perform solid power alt rock with some interesting and unique touches. A gritty but harmonic vocal timbre that reminds me of Randy Bachman work well with the crunchy guitar rhythems and echoey psychedelic tinged solo work. "Once" has a good radio feel, with snappy hooks and a powerful chorus and "My Way Hy Way" is a guitar charged groove rocker. Adding bits of folk and classic rock and doing things just a bit different with the writing is a real plus here. - mark e waterbury

Bio

Rude Rooster is a diverse group of 4 guys from southeast Wisconsin and northeast Illinois who have been together for just over 4 years. We all play in other groups and in other genres of music but Rude Rooster is our first love. Our music is testoserone driven but also appeals to the ladies.
in 2002 we were nominated by W.A.M.I.(Wisconsin Area Music Industry) for the best new band and in 2003 we were nominated in the best hard rock alternative catagory.
