Bio
Rudy Currence provides a breath of fresh air to today's music scene. His musical background is very diverse, spanning, almost every genre of music (i.e. Gospel, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Folk, Pop, and Classical). With this wide range blended smoothly into one distict sound, Rudy has a rare crossover appeal that reaches urban as well as sub-urban audiences of all ages.
Rudy has been singing the age of 3 and playing the piano since the age 6. He also plays several other instruments including the guitar and trumpet. He is a 2002 grduate of Furman University where he majored in music and received classical voice and piano scholarships. He is an ASCAP writer. His industry credits include co-writing two songs on the Multi-Platinum recording artist "MYA". The two songs are efatured on Mya's latest effort, "Moodring" and their titles are "Sophicated Lady" and " No Sleep Tonight". Mya's album charted number three on billboard. Rudy also wrote and recorded a song for the "Bourne Identity" movie starring Matt Damon, the song is titled "Believe Me."
In May 2003, he performed on one Charolette, NC's biggest acoustic showcases, "The Tosco Music Party." In June 2003 Rudy showcased at the legendary "Blue Bird Cafe" for NY College booking agency, Auburn Moon.
A native of of Rock Hill, SC this unique youngster and his soul-stirring performances are a reminder of old school singer/songwriters like Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Lionel Richie, James Taylor, The Capenters, and The Bee Gees. In his own rendition of Leon Russell'ss
