I’m pretty sure this isn’t really a mixtape, but rather a crafty collection of bone-rattling, rocking blues tunes positioned in such a way as to demonstrate some sort of occult fealty. The imagery is scary in the pop culture sense—as in black balloons, faceless strangers and ill-fitting camel hair coats—but the actual music seems to rise above that conceit. Emerging from your choice of chrysalis or grave, here are songs that can be absolutely mesmerizing under the right conditions. I suggest you play this album at night, at least one and half hours before sunrise. That way you can take in the spoopy vibrations coming out of deadly tuneage with names like “Since the Devil’s Swayed” (mi favorito on this outing, and “Slash and Burn.” Someone call the music director over at “True Detective!” - Weekly Alibi
"There are some sumptuously searching melodies on this record, some guitar playing that will give you the feels when mixed up with the Mellotron, all Elliott Smith style. Cuts like “Heaven” feel like something Peter Gabriel might have unloaded on an off day, while the title track rumbles mysteriously through the story of a love gone wrong, maybe in the way Lamar might have spoken of such tragedies. . . I can’t wait to hear what’s next from this promising project."

Bio
Rue Badly is an indie folk and soul group fronted by singer / song weaver, Wyatt Granger. The group started in 2015 as a recording project, that featured a wide range of styles including blues, folk, indie rock, jazz, hip hop, and pop. Often combing these elements into originals, or spinning modern takes on classic covers.
The group plays sets curated to the venue they play at, such as light romantic jazz and soul for casual restaurants, or danceable indie rock for breweries or night clubs. Covering from a large list of cover songs, the group plays classics from artists such as The Beatles, Tom Petty, Michael Jackson, and Bill Withers to modern acts such as Gorillaz, Weezer, Fleet Foxes, and Foster the People. The group can also play with different line-ups if asked for, such as a solo acoustic set, a smaller duo with no drums, or a trio.
Rue Badly has performed with such local acts as Dust City Opera, Sinister Vail, Le Chat Lunatique, Sol de la Noche, and Sage and Jared's Happy Gland Band.
