Ruff as Stone Biography

Ruff as Stone. A London based four piece based, exuding all the
energy and swagger of bands like Wolf-Mother, The Raconteurs and The Black

What began as a simple jam session one afternoon in 2009 quickly turned into
a writing session as whole songs started to take shape in no time at all, leaving
the group in no doubt that they had something special.

Lead singer Austin Howard, formally lyricist and front man to the 80’s band. Ellis, Beggs & Howard. Having been referred to as the black Mick Jagger,
adds real strength with his strong melodies and vocal prowess. Austin has also penned songs for Artists and films such as Joss Stones multi platinum album ‘Mind Body & Soul’. And performs (‘Heaven Knows’) on the hugely successful British movie ‘Rise of the foot soldier’.

Tom E Morrison (guitar /backing vocals) whom is an award winning
producer/engineer/composer in his own right, having worked with artists such
as Underworld and Bonnie Tyler, chops out riffs with a subtle retrospective
nod to Hendrix, Page and Tommy Iommi.

Tobias Kunzel (drums/ backing vocals) best known for his vocal work with the multi-million selling German band Die Prinzen plays with an energy and style reminiscent of Keith Moon and Ginger Baker. Completing the rhythm section is Rob Tree (bass/ backing vocals) who has toured and performed with Chris Norman (Smokie), Mick Tucker (The Sweet) and Bliss. Influenced and inspired by the likes of Jack Bruce, Marcus Miller and
Flea among others, and trained at the Academy Of Contemporary Music he
uses the experience built up playing hundreds of gigs big and small to help
deliver the thumping grooves and heavy riffs that Ruff As Stone are fast
becoming known for.
