Bio
Jerrod Walston, better known as Rugged Rod to Virginia's underground music scene, was born on October 17, 1988 in
Frankfurt, Germany. Although he was born overseas, he spent most of his childhood in Newport News, Virginia. Rod started
creating music at the tender age of 15. Music was a hobby for him then. It took a run with the law for a robbery in 2005, for him to make his music his priority...
. In 2006, Rod graduated from Rose Hill Alternative School for troubled kids. His mother saw the
passionate drive he had for his writing songs, and decided to buy him a sound recorder as a graduation gift. Ever since then, he
has been recording and tuning his sound. Rod's deep lyrics and his southern appeal makes him a force to be reckoned with.
As CEO of his own company, Underworld Figures, he plans on making a name in the music scene. Branding himself as a artist and as a business man. He began
performing his songs professionally in 2007, winning many local talent shows and even being placed on Slip n Slide record's
On Da Grind mixtape. Recently he auditioned for 106nPark's VA Talent Search, and was then asked to come to New York and
perform for Pat Charles, senior screenwriter and director of 106nPark's Wild n Out Wednesday. Rod was later asked to partake
in Blaze the Stage with Travis Porter, but was hindered by his duties as a soldier for the United States Army. Soon after,
he was discharged from the Army, solely for taking his passion for music more seriously. Its only
a matter of time before he gets the break that he needs to be a world wide recording artist.
