"Ruined Conflict - Treason REVIEW"

'Treason' is taken from Ruined Conflict's debut album 'A.R.M.O.R.' and has been released as an EP also including three new tracks. Ruined Conflict have been going since 2011 and are based in the US with Xavier Morales being the vocalist/composer and Eric Holzer taking on the live programming duties.

The EP has four remixes of the title track all at 140 BPM, with the "Club Mix" being the most similar to the original while the second track is the "Industry Product Remix" and to my mind, is the best of the four on the EP The third track is the "Destruction Remix" and starts well, then the "metal guitar" thing gets involved and its hard to take. The worst of the lot is the "Dubstep Remix" as the style of the remix takes away from the meaningfulness and the heartfelt singing of Xaviers' vocals in my opinion.

"In Open Arms" has a quiet soothing beginning and then brings in beats and strings and winds up as the track goes on and is lyrically strong. "Sentiment" is more a trance track that starts in a minimalistic style and builds and builds throughout the track with the addition of female vocals, breakdowns and again those strong lyrics from Xavier making it easily my favourite of the EP.

The last track is "Promise Land" and this is where you hear the orchestral layers and arrangements of Ruined Conflicts work with operatic female vocals floating through the track. It is a great way to finish the EP off.

With a new release entitled 'Justified' due in mid September 2013, this EP and the album will keep you happy until then. - Blackvector Magazine

"A.R.M.O.R. REVIEW"

Based in Ohio/Orlando, Ruined Conflict are Xavier Morales (Vocals/Composer) and Eric Holzer (Live Programming) and were formed around 2011.

'A.R.M.O.R.' is the first full length release from Ruined Conflict and is a strong debut full of tracks with a message behind the driving basslines and club styled beats. This is a very enjoyable album where you find yourself singing the choruses after the second hearing, not because they are trite, but because they flow and sit well within the structures of the songs.

Vocally, Xaviers' voice is strong and you can hear the belief he has in singing what he has written, rather than sounding righteous for the sake of it. Describing himself as a composer is very fitting as these songs sound full without being busy or losing sounds and arrangements in the mix.

Citing Angels on Acid, Combichrist, Disturbed and VNV Nation as influences, 'A.R.M.O.R.' has elements of those bands with VNV, on this album at least, seeming to be the largest influence both musically and vocally. Xaviers' vocals are a little harder, a little gruffer and maybe, have a little more passion in them and being from the USA, have a different angle with which they speak.

A.R.M.O.R. has 14 tracks and runs just under 70 minutes and with most tracks being mid to high BPM, there are plenty of club tracks that will work in any DJ's set. With the possible exceptions of "Haven", "Until The End", "Sanction" and "Great Deceiver" considering they are the slower tracks on the album. The 4th track "Treason" has also been released as a stand alone four track EP with remixes and a few other tracks included (which I will review shortly).

This is a good album with polished sounds and melodies, strong meaningful lyrics and vocals all out together well. If you are a fan of VNV Nation then you won't be able to help hearing the similarities, however, this album is strong enough to stand on its own without that continual reference.

I've enjoyed listening through 'A.R.M.O.R.' five or six times now and I look forward to the next release which, according to their Facebook page, is an EP entitled 'Justified', due mid September 2013. - .brutal resonance

"A.R.M.O.R. REVIEW"

Ruined Conflict - A.R.M.O.R. (album)

The debut album from Ruined Conflict is a highly technological audio sensory attack which grabs you by the scruff of the neck; shakes and throttles you violently and doesn’t let go until the final beat has completed its hostile takeover of your mind and soul.

A combination of VNV Nation, Combichrist and Nitzer Ebb all thrown into the spin dryer on extra fast spin resulting in an industrial electro collision designed to intimidate and then drain every milligram of adrenalin from your body.

Turn it on; crank it up and await for the relentless and raging assault…if you’re brave enough!

1. Haven
a teaser of an introduction leads you into a false sense of security. The opening siren whines as if in warning of the pending raid that is about to bombard your eardrums.

2. Failure
the radio frequency dial soon finds a clear signal of clarity of a classical melody; but don’t be fooled; the drum pattern begins to drive forward and then the onslaught commences. Xavier hits you with his lyrical genius and delivers the chanting vocal style that reverberates with the drums and bass as the track picks up full speed. “For in God’s eyes” – this is no failure; this is the beginning of a new world of electro/industrial. The mix of orchestra, drum patterns and torrential bass keep this track alive and pumping throughout.

3. Conflict
with no rest for the wicked; Conflict starts immediately where Failure left off with thunderous bass echoing through your ribcage. Vocal style slightly slower yet still disturbingly sinister in graphic imagery. With barely a pause for thought the melodic chorus penetrates and engraves its ‘cruelty and sickness’ deep into our skulls.

4. Treason
vocals expressed in chant form that just drip in charismatic yet aggressive tones enforced with drum sequences that your heartbeat fights to match; pumping blood and adrenalin at speeds the body can hardly maintain. Your limbs spasm in military precision to the marching pounding of the bass. The pace of the track sends shockwaves through your mind; no need for mind-altering drugs; this track does it for free!

5. Defiance
anger screams from all corners as Xavier takes full control of the track and abuses the microphone with aggressive vocals accompanied with a corrosive bass-line that simply distorts your brain. Yet from the chaos Eric Holzer produces perfect order settling you down to absorb every beat and word in harmonious clarity and vivid intensity.

6. Military Industrial Komplex
and so you thought it was time for a short interlude where we have an instrumental break to calm our senses down. Don’t be so foolish; this is a Ruined Conflict album! Eric Holzer does not understand the term ‘calm.’ Prepare yourself for a barrage of ear-splitting, unforgiving, perpetual and grinding electro bruising industrialism! Vocoded vocals are mixed into the blitz creating a turbulent yet totally danceable and boot stomping track.

7. Impulse
nothing will stop this juggernaut of a track as it motors on relentlessly; stopping for nobody and taking no prisoners. Vocals are delivered in more melodic fashion and as always re-enforced with a tremendous bass-line and drum pattern fulfilling every bass junkie’s wildest dreams.

8. We Will Be Heard
extreme EBM style track perfectly executed with military precision. This track is turned up a few notches and leaves your temples throbbing and you gasping for breath as the final beat finally dies and you collapse to the floor pleading for mercy!

9. United We Stand And Fall
best track of the album. Chorus to die for that you’ll be singing/chanting/shouting long after the track has finished. The persistent drums will leave your ears bleeding for weeks and the crashing waves of bass will pound at your chest; breaking ribs and crushing your lungs. High energy song that will make you thrash and spasm in pure ecstasy at the lyrical and vocal genius of Xavier Morales and the pure musical brilliance of Eric Holzer.

10. Anthem
powerful vocals open this track adding depth and emotion before the bombardment of the tempo attacks the listeners’ senses. There’s more passion wrapped around the delivery of the vocals with this song too. A heavier use of synths gives this track a fuller feel and adds more atmosphere to the overall sound. This feels more ‘club’ focused yet still contains all the expected ‘RC’ elements.

11. Until The End
a slower track with more focus on the vocals highlighting the singing ability and range of Xavier. Atmospheric synths create an emotional feel to the track; still backed with an ample deep bass-line and drum sequence.

12. Sanction
Avery slow track well expressed with such pain and agony in the vocals. The orchestral approach gives the track a ghostly feel to it. I wonder if it would have worked better as the closing track due to the style of the track and the subject matter?

13. Troubled Game Of Life
up-tempo song with a storm - hooded stranger

"Justified Review"

Ruined Conflict - Justified (EP)

The new EP release from Ruined Conflict does not disappoint. Three new brain crushing tracks; additional remixes and a new remix from the Treason EP.

Taking one almighty stride from where the aggressive, danceable and intelligent A.R.M.O.R. album left off; we enter the Next Chapter of Ruined Conflict.

1. Next Chapter
a moment for you to relax; ensure your volume has been increased to the maximum volume permitted and that you are sitting comfortably. Allow the introduction to lead you into a false sense of security; close your eyes and take a deep breath...enter the next chapter of Ruined Conflict.

2. Justified
I can almost see a wry smile upon Xavier’s face as he steps up to the microphone to deliver this first new vocal of the EP. Perfected drum sequences kick in as yet again intelligent lyrics reverberate out from the speakers filling the room. This is the RC combination; thumping bass, layered synths, programmed drums and a vocal delivery in an almost arrogant yet sinister style. Eric Holzer, I can also see with a smirk; knowing he has achieved perfection!

3. Justified (Club Remix)
the church choir harmony introduction and Xavier’s raw vocal opens up this club track beautifully but be warned the tranquil beginning is soon thrashed into an EBM stomp. This lively track has all the original elements but is simply bigger, stronger, harder and faster…what more can you ask for in a club remix?

4. Justified (Standing Symphony Remix)
symphonic opening transforms the aggressive dance track into a darker and slightly slower track. This is more atmospheric and chilling with clever use of the piano. The track slowly picks up in power; the drums and bass begin to dig in deeper yet the speed of the track is kept under control. The lyrics become more of a focal point in this remix giving you time to take in their meanings and structure.

5. Forever (Digital Mix)
lush, layered synths create the atmosphere as the track builds; we wait impatiently for the drum sequence and bass; we know it’s coming. Then our senses are bombarded as the bass, drums and vocals hit us from all angles. This song is an all-out sensory attack from which you don’t want to recover. The constant and relentless stomp thumps your chest wall and the vocals are crystal and pierce through your ears. Would like to hear a stripped down version of this track too.

6. In Open Arms (Sanctuary Remix)
previously released on the Treason EP this has been given a longer introduction. It feels harder than the original which had a more synthpop feel to it. This still gives us the opportunity to witness the melodies within Xavier’s voice. The bass is heavier and deeper pushing it further from the synthpop style of the original but not distorting the track from its identity. Eight minutes of boot stamping energy.

7. Out Of Line
powerful and energetic introduction with a mighty kick-ass drum sequence. Vocal delivery similar to Treason but distinctively different enough to stand out on its own. This is Ruined Conflict at its hardest and fastest. There is aggression and disdain in the chanted vocals and a clear message being delivered lyrically. Layered synths used perfectly…a big salute to Eric Holzer for keeping the RC sound just the way we like it! This track does not let up from beginning to end; relentless!

8. Out Of Line (Restriction 9 Remix)
this is my first taste of Restriction 9 and I am impressed. They have delivered what was an already explosive track and turned it into a dynamic collision of corrosive brutality. This is an outstanding remix that simply distorts what remains of the brain cells you have and thrashes them into jelly. [Note to self: contact Restriction 9 to remix Systema Synthetica’s next single].

9. Out Of Line (AudioCentesis Remix)
AudioCentesis have given this track a superb make-over with the treatment to the vocals and bombardment of electro/industrial dance beats. I am so often disappointed with remixes but AudioCentesis have delivered the ultimate package here and have created a master-class in industrial remixing. A most suitable conclusion to the EP.

"Ruined Conflict - Treason REVIEW"

Earlier this year, Ruined Conflict released its debut album “A.R.M.O.R.”. Not long after that the EP “Treason” saw the light. The title track comes in four different versions together with three brand new tracks. Influenced by Industrial, Alternative Rock and Metal the duo have created a very powerful sound together with intense orchestrated symphonies, and that is something the debut album delivered.
The US duo of singer Xavier Morales and Eric Holzer deliver some more up-tempo music for your ears. “Treason” definitely is one of the strongest tracks from the album so a defined release with this track wasn’t that hard to predict. The track comes in four different versions and it starts with the club mix, which is similar to the album version. Yet, I actually prefer this version compared with the album version as this have more punch to it and feels better composed. And what’s really good is that every version have its own unique style with different sounds. From driving beats, to metal influences, to dubstep. Leaving you lots of diversity.
Further more, there are some brand new tracks included. “In Open Arms” starts out really beautiful before the beats and vocals at around 90 seconds in. The track is really catchy and very much reminds of VNV Nation. But hey, it definitely deliver a great tune, and that is what matter. “Sentiment” is a bit harder, and faster, with additional female vocals. It’s very club-friendly and have a really great beat to it. Last out, is the instrumental song “Promise Land” that more or less works as an outro, yet it includes a very cool and orchestral soundscape.
I’ve had this EP now for a couple of months and it have been on frequent play. The new tracks is only getting better, yet I really like the metal influenced remix of “Treason”. Overall, it’s a very good EP with great remixes that offer great variety and some really strong new tracks. Btw, new EP “Justified” is set to be released in September. - Blackvector Magazine

"Ruined Conflict - A.R.M.O.R. REVIEW"

Formed back in 2011, the US-based duo of Xavier Morales and Eric Holzer recently released their debut album “A.R.M.O.R.”. The band is still unsigned and so far they have done quite well.
First time I got to hear the band was on the recent sampler “Synthematika 4? compilation from Russian label Synthematika, who for one, put talented and new acts in the spotlight. The sound on “A.R.M.O.R.” is very up-tempo and fast-paced. It very much reminds of the harder and experimental tracks from VNV Nation with lots of twisting electronics and pounding beats. Put in a strong voice of Xavier Morales, some orchestration and influences of the modern Industrial sound you get Ruined Conflict.
The high standard of quality is followed pretty much through the entire album and leave very little out not to like. The Metal and Alternative Rock influenced sound on “Defiance” to name a few is a nice contribution and diversity, and the fact that Xavier deliver an outstanding vocal performance is not to put aside. There is of course some tracks that need some more time than others, but the more you listen to them the more they grow with you. Some tracks have a more catchy structure to it with a strong melody, while others more tend to aim for the dark club floors like the beat pumping “Military Industrial Komplex” or “We Will Be Heard”. One note though, I say it again; the album is about fast beats with strong club appeal.
However, with 14 tracks on an album it definitely put up a lot of expectations on the band to actually deliver what it takes. To keep a high level and don’t fall behind with just tracks to fill the record. On this matter, Ruined Conflict manage to do a really, really good job. The variation is just right with a relevant sound and while you just thought it was about heavy rhythms and strong sounds, the duo shift to the end and strike with some sweet melodic Futurepop flavored magic in “Anthem” or the emotional and slower “Until The End” and “Sanction”. - Blackvector Magazine

Formed in 2011, Ruined conflict strives on developing a unique style of alternative electronic and orchestrated symphonies that would allow them to release a diverse and dynamic sound that would separate the band from others. Influenced by Industrial Alternative rock and metal creating there first album would be challenging. The message is simple " live for yourself not others ". Lead Singer and the composer "Xavier Morales" has worked hard in establishing himself as a idealist and emotionally releasing his opinions and rage in his music, as well as balancing and carefully choosing the right sound and melodies to back him up in every individual track. Working with composer and music engineer "Eric Holzer" both we're able to come of with a method that seemed to work. Ruined Conflict has two main members and and three live members. The meaning behind the name Ruined Conflict was established by Government policies that only seem to make matters worst from both parties. From war to politics it always seems as if they are trying to "Ruined "us by creating more "Conflict" instead of solutions. No matter the crisis that is faced or obtained, the overall power and corruption will forever be taken out on the rest of us and our society. We need to speak out and raise our voice so that unity and structure's can one day be reformed.
