Bio

Three friends from middle school started jamming together, playing a few shows over a couple of years at the Bitter End, and at school events. Then, after talking to a radio dj at WFMU's Record Fair in October 2011, they started to get serious about the band, writing and rehearsing constantly. They recorded a four-song EP that they then distributed themselves on cd, and which is now available for free on their website. However, the band has progressed much since this, playing all new material comprising about 25 songs total. The "real" debut was at Arlene's Grocery for a Battle of the Bands, in which they won first place. Turning their efforts to gigging and gaining some attention, rather than making some more home recordings, they then secured gigs at a couple New York City venues, and are now playing in Sweden. Live videos are available on youtube on the RuleNumberThree youtube channel, and demo cd's compiled of some of these live recordings are available on request.

Major influences include Sebadoh, Sonic Youth, the Wipers, Elliott Smith and Heatmiser, Dinosaur Jr, Queens of the Stone Age, The Stooges, The Flaming Lips, The Minutemen, Wire, Pink Floyd, Yo La Tengo, My Bloody Valentine, the Melvins, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Nirvana, Ty Segall, and our old music teacher Matthew DeMella, whose band is called Special Patrol Group.
