Bio

“I’m not here just to sing. Listen up!” barks Kevin Weinberg as Rule of 3rds kicks into "Never The Same", a booty-shakin’ blues rocker that crashes into the staccato backhand ending:

When the midnight crawls
And hook-up calls
They call you to your graves
By the time you cross your paths with me
Have something nice to say
Because you never know what I could do for you
You'd never be the same

As the crowd starts to move, they only begin to sense what they are in for. Adept at all dynamics, the Rule of 3rds set starts big and ends huge, with a wide gamut of moods throughout, from the rolling, angular feel of "Changes", the massive thump of "Sometimes", and the straightforward sing-along pop hit of "Angel". Rule of 3rds combines deep musical experience and tasty grooves into impeccable and sticky songs.

Rule of 3rds (originally known as Made), hails from San Diego, California, where they have developed a strong following over their two years. “What’s really cool about our buzz is that it’s been 100% audience-driven,” says bass player Keith Langill. “We’ve done almost no direct promotion of ourselves, only the shows. Everything has happened on the strength of the songs and the loyalty of our fans.” This includes being selected as a finalist in San Diego radio station Rock 105.3’s Band Aid contest, resulting in gigs in some of the finest venues supporting local music in SD and opening slots for national acts. “But that’s all going to change, now that the EP is done. We’re ready to do the work.”

Rule of 3rds has spent the last six months working on their self-produced EP "Changing Perspectives". “This was a lot of hard work, but we’re really proud of these songs,” says Kevin. “There’s nothing trivial about any of them. Each one is crafted exactly as we wanted them. And it’s been totally worth it, as that makes it easy for me to present these songs live, because I’m so committed to them.”

Rounding out with Ed Stocke on guitar and Matthew Stewart on drums, bearing a brilliant new disc, and the love of their fans and support team, Rule of 3rds aims to change your perspective—on rock and roll, on yourself, on the world.
