Bio

A three-member rock band based in the Merrimack Valley, in the northern part of MA, Runaway Roses is much more than a typical power trio. It is a skilled group with brains, chops, ears, intensity, originality, strong arrangement skills, pure singers, and a reverence for musical history. Each member has paid their dues many times over in recording, local live performance, and touring.

Jason Lombardo, a devotee of Keith Moon’s exuberant use of unbridled toms and John Bonham’s hard hitting, half time beats, combines these techniques with the grooves found in funk and the Philly soul sound to create a drum style that is uniquely his, aurally challenging, and compulsively danceable. He toured the east coast extensively with a number of successful, hard hitting soul/dance bands.

Guitarist/vocalist Coulomb Brella represents that rare combination of musician who paid his dues through years of road gigs around the world while completing an advanced degree in music. His musician parents exposed him in his early years to jazz and classical music. His earliest performance experiences came at age eight playing cowboy music in a ukulele band. After playing in rock bands through his high school and college years, he then traveled to London, where he played with such pub-rock bands as Ducks Deluxe and Brinsley Schwarz. In the late 70’s, he completed a graduate degree in jazz composition at New England Conservatory, mastering be-bop, cool and fusion jazz styles. He is a skilled and highly original arranger.

k-mac, bassist/vocalist, has been recording and gigging since his mid-teens. He was a founding member of Random Sample, Middle Earth (the precursor to Boston), and Bullseye, a band whose release was lauded by a number of national critics and contained the first release of ‘Treat Me Right’. He worked in A&R at Columbia Records, helping a number of artists achieve their artistic and commercial goals. He now works closely with Coulomb to create the special arrangements that are the defining differentiation for Runaway Roses.
