Runel Jimenez

Hi,
I'm Runel, I don't have a stage name yet but I have in the past been called DJ Dak (a stage name my friends came up with in 5 minutes). I am a DJ who specializes in hip-hop and electronic dance music. I have been a DJ since 2012 but have been a professional DJ since 2016. I have played shows for MacEwan University's New Student Orientation and MacEwan University’s annual dance marathon for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. I have also played for countless corporate and house parties. 
I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Yellowknife, Canada when I was three years old. As far back as I can remember music as always been something I loved. Growing up my mom would always be playing her CD's of Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, WHAM! and all of those 80's bands. Her love of music must have passed on to me. 
Aside from my mother another individual who help shaped my musical identity was one of my cousins. He showed me Usher's 8701 album back when I was about 6 years and I loved it. Usher is still one of my favourite artists of all time and 8701 is still my most played album in my listening library.
If I talked about all the artists and genres I loved we would have ourselves a collection of novels. But to sum this up (because this is getting long) I love music in all its forms. My goal is to inspire people through music and help express emotion into my audience that they have never felt before.
