"Running Late And Noah Giglio Are On The Move"

Noah Giglio of the Madison-based rock band Running Late knows his way around a stage.

The 22-year-old performed in a presentation of the classic of Indian theater, "Red
Oleanders,'' at the South Asian Theatre Festival last year at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

"It was cool, it was mostly people of Indian heritage in the play,'' said Giglio, who got a tip that a few actors were needed for prominent roles in the play. "It's sort of a dream to be on a stage in front of 600 people. My passion is the performing arts.''

Be it onstage or in song. His band Running Late … which he formed with life-long friends Mike Hall, bass; John Hall, sax; A.J. Zienowicz, drums and Alex Fillimon, cello … is doing brisk business in area clubs during the few short months they've been playing. The guys have a tuneful art-rock fusion sound that recalls the Velvet Underground, at least to these ears. Upcoming gigs include tonight at Crossroads (they hit the stage around 9 p.m.) in Garwood and Friday, July 9, at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick.

If something strikes you familiar about Giglio, then you know the Central Jersey music scene. He's the son of Jigs Giglio of North Brunswick, whose 1982 single "The Reason I Rock'' helped coalesce the modern New Brunswick rock scene. Jigs' immediate family includes brother Plinky Giglio, a record producer; brother Raphael Giglio, a Christian musician; and sister Bridgette West, formerly of the band New York Loose.

Noah and Jigs, of Jigs and the Pigs fame, have shared a couple of gigs together already.

"It's a whole new world for me,'' Noah said. "We played with Steve Conte of the New York Dolls (at the Court Tavern), and it was beyond surreal. (My father and I) were hanging out together before we both had to go onstage. We had such a great time into the wee hours of the morning … it was so much fun.'' - mycentraljersey.com

Bio

We are Running Late. A few years ago, three of us toyed with the idea of forming a band. We started out by playing cover songs at back yard parties. When our bassist and Cello player teamed up with the rest of us, Running Late was formed. We decided to take a more serious approach to our music two years ago and began writing original songs. We have worked hard through the obstacles presented to each of us, not the least of which being we all attend college at different schools. These past few years have been a huge surprise for all of us. We have rocked crowds at venues which include Starland Ballroom and The Stone Pony while headlining frequently everywhere else. We take pride in creating a sound that is truly something special and are often regarded as the most original band in the NJ underground scene.
