Biography

Claim:

Run with the Heard is an experience unlike any other. There is literally NOTHING like it.. Unless you've seen that OTHER multi-genre-high-energy-audio-visual-electro-acoustic party band that uses vintage video game controllers to glitch and effect live instruments and vocals.

Facts:

- We are the band with something for everyone. We've created our own unique blend of genres, combining pop, rock, folk, post-punk, dubstep, house, metal, hip hop, electro, and countless sub-genres of dance music.

- We are a hard working, self sufficient group of net savvy geeks that utilize social media at a professional level. (we don't just create a facebook event page)

- As headliners, we've sold out a number of spaces, including some of Vancouver's most popular venues.

- We've played a number of festivals, including: Shambhala, Olio, Under the Volcano.

- We’ve shared the stage with these artists: Teagan and Sara, Kid Koala, Blackalicious, Humans, Raekwon, Har Mar Superstar, Mother Mother, The Coup, Devin the Dude.

- RWTH develops and makes use of groundbreaking technologies. We perform with custom-built digital instruments, such as modified video game controllers, smart phones and other gadgets, used to glitch, chop and manipulate the audio signals of vocals, banjos, guitars and other instruments.

- Our music is accompanied by a powerful visual element, utilizing innovative use of footage and digital art to create a stunning live atmosphere perfectly synchronized with our elaborate stage performance.

- Our producer was featured on CBC News: The National after winning a competition to have one of his remixes on K-Os’ latest album.

- The three vocalists/traditional instrumentalists come from very different musical backgrounds.

- We have theme shows, dress up in costumes, give away prizes, and generally bring a party everywhere we go.

These people from the Georgia Straight (pretty big deal in Vancouver) said these things about us:

“Run With the Heard kept the party people moving with its freakish take on experimental dance-pop. With as many as seven people on stage at once, the outfit delivered a genre-defying squall that ranged from Auto-Tuned pop to backwoods country to ’90s-infused hip-hop.”
-Alex Hudson, The Georgia Straight.

“…Seriously, watch for these guys, who basically went off like a pipe bomb. Take three revved-up MCs, add a dude playing what appeared to be a Guitar Hero toy axe, and round things out with a drummer who looked like a ’60s-boho version of Tom Waits, and you’ve got a freak show. But the Heard also had the songs, with all of the Bourbon’s party people screaming along to every jam”
-Mike Usinger, The Georgia Straight.
