"Russell Hill benefit concert at HBHS"

Russell Hill benefit concert at HBHS

Saturday, Feb. 7, from 8-10 p.m., local folk/pop/fusion band, Russell Hill, will perform a benefit concert at the Hollis Brookline High School Auditorium in Hollis. The band arranged the concert to help defray costs for an upcoming field trip by the HBHS Honors Jazz Band and Honors Chorus.

Russell Hill has played its original music locally for the last five years, performing primarily at local taverns and coffee houses as well as yearly slots at The Milford Pumpkin Fest and The Nashua Holiday Stroll. Fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Morgan Keating, the band’s sound has evolved from simple acoustic folk, bluegrass to a more complex mix of folk, pop, jazz and rock.

• Joining Morgan in the Russell Hill line up are Keating’s longtime musical friends Jonathan Grant on bass (Gypsy Mechanics), Gary Young on guitar, dobro and lapsteel (Ballou Brothers Band and The Wannabees), Rick Carr on djembe, percussion and drums and newest member Willie Walker (the Mighty Colors) on piano and keyboards.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 (students need pay only $5) all proceeds to benefit the HBHS Music program. For additional information, visit Russell Hill’s Web site at www.russell-hill.com or contact info@russell-hill.com or call Gary Young at 249-9484.

Bio

Russell Hill matters. They’re more than a band. They are an experience. Their music holds one locked in a state of transcendence and beauty. They care passionately about the world they inhabit. They tirelessly devote their time and energy in to creating a common language that bridges borders and create new worlds through a humble philanthropic vision of song and service. Be it raising funds for global causes or mending fences in their own back yard…they know the world can be a better place. That art, beauty, wisdom, and human dignity is alive and well and it’s what ultimately carries us all through the toils and troubles of the day. Russell Hill matters. Listen.
