"Russian Ninjas on the Prowl"

Russian Ninjas

iGiGs are under strict instruction to ensure that there is no ‘The’ mentioned in their band name or titles; iGiGs are lovers rather than fighters, hence no argument from us.

Following compliments on their “lively performances” from several sources close to iGiGs, they kept popping up on our radar, in particular after their triumph at Achiltibuie’s recent and inaugural Battle of the Bands. It would appear that these Ninjas are on the prowl and looking to secure GiGs throughout the Highlands and beyond.

Just to make things clear – Russian Ninjas are not from Russia and are in no way related to the headline:

Italian police have arrested a Russian “ninja” who had been spreading fear across farmlands in the north of the country.

They are however a 4-piece indie rock band from Fort William and whilst our understanding of their origins isn’t entirely clear to us at this stage, (we look forward to sitting down and having a ‘chat wth the chaps’ we are rather sure that they are worthy of a GiG or too. You may also have caught them on Netsound January podcast playing “Standing by the Canvas”which was well received then

They officially* (in a very small poll of the iGiGs staffroom admittedly) have the best name in band history since the Arctic Monkeys and coincidentally have some vague similarities in their guitar rifts and general demonstration of angst. The imminent release of their 6 song EP is one to be heard – Fits & Starts and O.L.A. from the E.P. are embedded within the current office playlist) and their potential is more than obvious to our experienced ears and taste.

Russian Ninjas are next to be seen on the 4th of February at the Skippinish Ceilidh House in Oban before competing at Live and Unsigned at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on the following evening.

We are hoping that they will be in the Inverness area in the near future for both an interview with iGiGs and some live dates, but in the meantime enjoy a few of their tunes via the Russian Ninjas facebook page. - invernessGiGs
