Bio

Russian Vogue plays loud hard rock music meant for glass houses.

Since their formation in 2006, Paige Gullivan, Joe Hicks, Peter Canale and James Buonantuono have played all over New York City and Brooklyn, places ranging from their studio in Williamsburg all the way to the Highline Ballroom opening up for The Donnas. After taking their giant leap into the NYC music scene with a show at Rehab with Vampire Weekend, they recorded their first EP released to the masses in June of 2009.

Russian Vogue’s sound is usually described as a broken bottle bar fight turned into a make-out session between The Creation and Television as recorded by Tony Wilson in a soundproofed basement with bad lighting and a leaky faucet. Live performances reveal the band’s raw unabashed energy and their style quickly draws comparisons to the Ramones, the Replacements, Nirvana and at times, Deep Purple.

Since the EP release, the band has been back in the NYC scene playing venues as described in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. But these guys don’t discriminate; you can catch them at any number of burlesque, ladycircus or swinger parties, playing music of course.

Their song “Count on Me,” was featured in Bob Odenkirk’s sketch comedy show “Derek and Simon” on Superdeluxe.com along with being the background music for an AD for coach.com

Most recently the band's single "Better" was featured on HBO's Funny or Die Presents and soon Russian Vogue will be featured on a local NYC cable show called "The Lineup"
