Rust N’ Roll (released 2001)

Rusty Eye started like any other highschool band, a very usual thing everywhere. As the years went by, the band started to create a following, creating more commitment and looking to move one step forward, that led to the recording of this album “Rust N’ Roll”. They define themselves as a mix between Iron Maiden, with the speed of Motorhead and the texture of the Misfits; the closest thing to Punk Metal. Their songs are pretty fast; Mr. Rust’s vocals are primarily low, I could say that there is an important similarity in his vocals with Joey Ramone and maybe Max Cavalera from Sepultura. The guitar tracks are in context pretty grinding. The CD starts with an intro “A Ceremonial Welcome” and as the 11 songs of this album flow, you can appreciate that this is a very good band that can coin this style of music. In the end, they finish with the instrumental “Phantasm”. I would say that the song that can easily be defined as pure Heavy Metal is “Return of the Scarecrow”, which has the sinister touch of the King Diamond singles… (putting the vocals on the side). Most recently, Rusty Eye released “Cryogenic” a 3-inch maxi made of 3 songs: Vermin (Instrumental), “Cryonic Suspension” and “Zombie”. After line-up changes, this trio formed by Mr. Rust (bass & vocals), Miss Randall (drums & vocals) and Rev. Jonny Dee (guitar) gives all its effort, strength, devotion and talent to Rusty Eye (another highly recommended band in my repertoire). Rust N' Roll (released 2001)

"Well what the hell! I just listened to this album, and have come to the conclusion that if you have never experienced celestial travel, don’t worry, because you will now experience the trip of trips.
I was transported back into the seventies (must look for my hair next time) Some might say the best time ever for rock bands, I disagree and this band prove that point, "I was there son ,up to my neck in triplets and paradidles".
The best description of the band is that of a fast powerful sports car quietly ticking over at the lights waiting for greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen So my advice fasten your seat belts, and under no circumstances listened through headphones unless you want crushed cranium! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED" - Pete Boot

Special Feature: What Musicians Are Thinking Today

Mr. Rust (Rusty Eye, Hollywood, CA: www.rustyeye.com) wants the support that being on a label would provide, and he’s not fussy about what kind of label it is. “There is no telling how far we could take our music if we had a major label budget and distribution,” he says. “But an indie would be great as well.”

Mr. Rust (Rusty Eye) consider trades and magazines a necessity. “We’ve been reading rock magazine all our lives. We live by them. So no matter how broke we are, we always spare some cash to get the trades. If we can’t get the current issue, we’ll find a way to find back issues for free. It’s extremely important to know what’s going on the business.”

Whisky A Go Go.

05/11/06

There are bands are difficult to define in terms of style when analized in extreme detail. Such is the case of Rusty Eye who has in their mix a bit of punk, extreme metal and other "herbs" that personally make it difficult do give them a complete guide in terms of all styles they cover.

RY started their career in Mexico with Mr. Rust in 1995, and a few years back from today, they been residing in Los Angeles where they've been developing an impressive local movement, playing all around the Angeleno circuit such as the Key Club, Knitting Factory and the World Famous Whisky a Go Go.

"Stendhal syndrome" is the most recent recording made by these talented young people, even though they previously released a live album a few months before entitled "Live at the Joint" (being Stendhal Syndrome the 4th release in their careers). This new composition is made of two parts, sort to speak; One with new material of 5 songs and the second, of older material that couldn't be edited together in the past formed of 3 songs. Between the special particularities of Rusty Eye is the fact that main vocals are performed by Ms. Randall (only female member) although the same amount of parts goes to Mr. Rust, who is in charge of bass, this way being Ms. Randall the drummer as well.

Another thing to make a remark of is the fact of having Ms Randall participating in the execution and co-composition of the themes and also in charge of the production of this whole opus. Dissecting entirely what the band does, you can appreciate accelerated parts, vocals that could even be considered extreme metal and the very solid memorable metal riffing of guitars.

For those who like Motorhead, with a bit of punk, it is guaranteed that you'll find Rusty Eye fit in your hands like a glove.

Bio

"Rusty Eye: To Shed the perceptual Rust and Blindness"

Rusty Eye is a LA based metal band with unique sounds and introspective, mind challenging messages. They can be referred purely as “Metal having a blend of various Heavy Metal styles with a touch of Horror influence. In general, they put to mind Italian Prog/Rock Horror masters such as “Goblin but adding lots of heavy metal edge and in-your-face lyrics. Some other acts similar in sound could be: Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Rush (without falsetto vocals), Motorhead, Budgie, and Testament.
Established in 1995 by American citizens raised abroad, they came to life under times of political stress in Mexico City, having to this date 4 U.S. releases (plus 12 foreign) and 12 years in the making of music.

Now based in the competitive "City of Angels" since 2004, Rusty Eye was recently ranked on Music Connection's Industry list of "Top 100 unsigned bands of 2006". They were also awarded "Best Heavy Metal Single of the Year" (LA Music Awards 2006), Best Male Bass Player 2006 and Best Female Drummer 2005 (by LA Magazine "Rock City News"). The band’s drummer "Miss Randall" was a finalist at NAMM 2007 "World's Fastest Drummer Competition" reaching 728 double kick hits in one minute.

Rusty Eye is currently formed by founder "Mr Rust" (bass/vocals), long-time member "Miss Randall" (drums/vocals/production) and the recent addition: the highly skilled guitarist "Dr. Deth". To this date Rusty Eye has played nonstop over 50 shows in and around the vicinities of The City of Angels since summer 2005 in venues such as: The Whisky a GoGo, The Roxy, The Joint, The Knitting Factory, The Key Club Hollywood and The Anarchy Library (amongst others). Interesting enough, they deliver an out of the ordinary palette of music that captivates a broad range of listeners. They have shared stages with artists and bands such as: Katatonia, Moonspell, Depswa, Metal Skool, Billy Sheehan/Ray Luzier, John Corabi, Veins of Jenna, etc. Raging show and CD reviews have been made in countries like: Mexico, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and the United States.

Their latest release "Stendhal Syndrome" is available at the band’s shows, Apple Itunes, Amoeba Records Hollywood, Rock Shop Mexico City and in multiple online stores (next to their previous releases: "Rust N' Roll", "Cryogenic" and "Live at the Joint"). Live videos can be found on Youtube.com.
