There Is No Turning Around

Written By: Ruth Wyand

There Is No Turning Around

My head’s in the clouds and my toes are in the sand
I came to this beach town without money or a plan
I serve drinks at the Tiki bar to surfers and Parrot heads
A steady loop on the jukebox of Buffett and Greatful Dead
You just need a six-pack and a surf rack and you got it made
there’s no passing through everyone tends to stay

You find a way to make things work in this old beach town
Once that salt air is in your lungs there is no turning around

There’s bluegrass pickers picking a tune out in the parking lot
A jeep with no doors or roof blasting be-bop
There’s vagabonds and millionaires riding the same wave
An off shore breeze for the perfect curl
and you can ride for days

You just need that sun shining on your face
there’s no passing through everyone finds their place
You find a way to make things work in this old beach town
Once that salt air is in your lungs there is no turning around

There's Only Up (When You're Down)

Written By: Ruth Wyand

There’s Only Up (When You’re Down)

Don’t give up on love
don’t put it on the shelf
if the one your in love with
is in love with someone else
then get your glove get back in the game
light up another flame
Take your time, look around
There’s only up – when your down

Don’t give up on love
You’ve got nothing to lose
It’s a big ocean
Plenty of fish to choose
Bait your hook and set your line
See what you pull up next time
Touch the bottom then turn around
There’s only up – when your down

Bridge:
Fate’s a strange mistress
She’ll toy with your soul
Love can be an emotion
Beyond your control

Don’t give up on love
You can make a change
Jump up on that bar stool
Scream out your name
They might think that you’re insane
But nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Kick up your heels and head downtown
There’s only up – when your down
