"Rutherford Rock Project"

"Rebecca Rutherford has a soothing voice, with her Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell style, her graceful balanced tones are indeed superb"

- Michael Jay - Great Unknowns Music Expose

"Review of The Limit"

"At first listen, The Limit has a coherent sound all on it's own! Instrumentation and timing fall in to place like clock work, not an easy feat when making an acoustic recording! Vocals reminiscent of a younger Stevie Nicks. It's hard to keep an acoustic song in tune and interesting without a great melody, or a great hook! This song has plenty of both! The lyrics are touching and enlightening with every day routine. I believe the singer and enjoy the band. The band is as tight as a band you would hear on MTV unplugged back in the 90s.

The Limit has great potential - it would be hard to place them in the pop world but they would easily fit the adult contemporary market"

- Chris Leyva - Black Cherry Group

Bio

Quit Wasting Tape, the debut album from Rutherford Rock Project (RRP), is an eclectic blend of intelligent lyrics articulated through smooth, emotional vocals, complemented by catchy guitar riffs, soothing bass melodies, and inventive percussions. The album was written, recorded, and produced by RRP, a four-piece acoustic rock ensemble from St. Louis, Missouri. Originally formed as a husband-and-wife acoustic rock project by guitarist Jason Rutherford and vocalist/guitarist Rebecca Rutherford in 2006, RRP recently evolved to include Jerry Haines on bass and Kevin Dager on drums.

At first listen, RRP offers a throw-back folk sound, evident in songs like “The Limit,” “The Other Half,” and “For Awhile.” While these songs provide the ethereal anchor for Quit Wasting Tape, RRP dusted off the amp, plugged in the Les Paul and created “Circumstance,” “Apathy & Envy,” and “Fast Track.”

A natural writer, Rebecca designed many song lyrics around poems she crafted over the years. Quit Wasting Tape captures her simple yet intricate guitar styling, reflecting her admiration for artists like Ray LaMontagne, Jack Johnson, and Mason Jennings.

After playing in and out of bands for nine years, Jason turned to Rebecca’s soulful sound to front a new endeavor. Jason draws ideas from creatively diverse artists, including Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, and Roger Clyne.

Kevin has been playing drums for over 25 years in various genres from rock to jam to jazz. Several influences have shaped Kevin's performance, from individuals like Vinnie Colaiuta, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Gadd, and Dave Weckl, to groups like Primus, The Police and Steely Dan.

A seasoned veteran with 27 years on bass, Jerry draws his inspiration from bassist Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, and Larry Graham. Jerry’s inclination toward comforting bass tones sets Quit Wasting Tape on solid ground.
