2006 Winner of the Gamble Rogers Fingerstyle Guitar Competion. The first woman to ever take home the 1st place prize.
Primarily a fingerstyle performer whose songwriting is heavily influenced by swing, ragtime, country, folk and blues. Ruth draws on American roots music to frame her lyrics and demonstrate her strengths as an guitarist, songwriter and vocalist. She's had the joy of busking in the streets of Paris and toured eastern and southern UK the last 3 years. Having started in Blues and Rock biker bars as a leader of an electric band for 16 years she's graduated to being a solo acoustic performer in coffeehouses, pubs, house concerts, acoustic clubs and festival stages in the United States, UK and New Zealand
Ruth was a headliner at the 2004 South Florida Folk Festival and has just finished a tour of New Zealand where she received great reviews and praise for picking her way through a variety of Americana guitar styles and entertaining the hell out of them.
May 2,2004 Ruth placed 3rd at The Gamble Rogers Folk Festival's Fingerstyle guitar competition. When she isn't on the road Ruth lives in Kill Devil Hills North Carolina where she plays in local clubs throughout the state and teaches guitar.
