Ruut's Live show will leave you moved and provoked. Biography

RUUT

Baltimore's own golden-voiced singer/songwriter, Ruut, does her family's rich musical heritage proud, (she's the granddaughter of a world-famous Finnish composer), while she is forging her own path with her latest indie-pop full-length release, Glimpse. The piano-driven album showcases Ruut's eloquent songwriting ability and powerful vocals. Live audiences have likened Ruut to Norah Jones and Carole King with her timeless songstress style, but she doesn't wear her predecessors on her sleeve. A recent review in The New World Finn describes Ruut as "having created her own identifiable musical presence" and "a deeply gifted songwriter".

Ruut's new album "Glimpse" is available on iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby.

Anchor

Written By: Ruut

ANCHOR

If I could show you what I'm feeling
There would be a hurricane
Everything would fall in pieces
We would drown in tears and rain

If I believed that you don't mind it
I would let you hold my hand
And the eye of the storm we'd hide in
And then you would understand

You’re my anchor in the storm
You're my anchor in the storm
You're my anchor
You're my anchor in the storm

I should try to make you happy
But things I've touched have turned to dust
It's okay to feel like leaving
No one's saying stay you must

If I could see what you can see
My limitations are enough
Wish I believed like you believe
Anticipation up above

You’re my anchor in the storm
You're my anchor in the storm
You're my anchor
You're my anchor in the storm

Cling to me, I'll cling to you
You make my regrets unborn
Sing to me I'll sing to you, cause

You’re my anchor in the storm
You're my anchor in the storm
You're my anchor
You're my anchor in the storm

Life is Beautiful

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
Ruut, Copyright 2008 (Earth to Me Music, ASCAP)

Billy came alive on Sunday
Sharpening his pencils and giving things away, uh huh
Like shoes too small, and old books about god
She'd float around the pool til noonday
Sipping light yellow cocktails to waste the day away, uh huh
Pool of shame to swim in, perfect lie to drown in

When someone's got a conscience to cleanse water isn't all that's wet
And what you want is never what you get, yet…

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

If he was here, you say that I'd like Jesus
He'd hang out at the bar and joke around with us
But to me there's more to life than making more wine out of water
And Jesus never woke up hung-over, so…

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
TAKE AWAY RELIGION, AND SENSELESS ADDITIONS
IT'S SIMPLE, THERE'S NO NEED FOR A MIRACLE, TO SEE THAT
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

So lay your head down on the untouched green moss by the river
Dip your soul in and beg for mercy, child, but let the earth's blue veins make you shiver

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
TAKE AWAY RELIGION, AND SENSELESS ADDITIONS
IT'S SIMPLE, THERE'S NO NEED FOR A MIRACLE, TO SEE THAT
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
