"PRESS RELEASE - 29 August 2008"

'JOURNEY TO PURPOSE' - Release Date 8 September 2008

Catalogue Number: J2P 0001

‘Journey To Purpose’ is the outstanding debut album from one of Britain’s most talented, up and coming gospel singer/songwriters Ryan Carty, and showcases his amazing talent as he sings songs of love, inspiration and hope.

The album features 11 songs, nine of which have been written solely by Ryan. He has also co-written one with leading UK praise and worship artist Noel Robinson, and co-wrote another with newcomer Jaki Carty.

Standout tracks include opening song, ‘Gratitude’, a mellow soul gospel number that encourages listeners to be grateful to God for their many blessings. ‘Keep on Keeping On’ is a funky exhortation to work towards ones goals despite obstacles, whilst Everything I Needed, a catchy dance number is a reminder of God’s providence.

‘I Won’t Quit’ calls on believers to trust God and resist temptation and ‘Lord Revive’ Me is a simple and beautifully sung ballad asking for spiritual revival; ‘Words Cannot Explain’, gives listeners a chance to hear the full range of Ryan’s five octave voice in a moving emotional ballad; ‘Now I’m Ready’ is a reggae influenced number featuring Watchman whilst ‘Didn’t You Know’, the last album track is a call entreating people to follow Christ and includes a rap from UK holy hip hop star Jahaziel.

It should be no surprise that Ryan Carty has released a quality album. It features the production talents of producers Clinton Jordan and Gavin Holigan, and there’s no doubt that Ryan has been an artist to watch ever since he won The Talk Gospel Radio Award for Best Male Vocalist at the age of 15. He also cites artists like Kim Burrell, Fred Hammond and Daryl Coley as major influences, and further honed his music and vocal craft through studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music.

A South Londoner, Ryan spent his youth as a member of the Greater Faith Ministries, where he became a Christian at the young age of 10. His music talent has been noted by his church, and he currently services as a worship leader, choir director and church keyboardist.

The album is already attracting rave reviews. Marcia Dixon, Gospel Music writer for The Voice is one of the first gospel journalists to hear the album and has described Journey To Purpose as an album of ‘exceptional quality’.

Ryan hopes that Journey To Purpose will particularly strike a chord with young people. “I am a young person myself, and in this day and age, we need all the help we can get to stay true to God and resist temptation. I believe the songs in this album will strengthen and encourage young people, and really help them to find their true purpose.”

RYAN CARTY

RISING YOUNG BRITISH GOSPEL STAR

“I want to take people on a journey” says Ryan Carty one of UK’s rising young gospel stars. Likened to Musiq Soulchild and Stevie Wonder his soft smooth vocals belie his 22 years, and his musical gifts in the fields of songwriting, singing and musicianship have marked him out as an artist to watch.

He grew up in the Greater Faith Ministries (GFM) in South London where he became a Christian at the age of 10. He is still a member of GFM and now serves in the roles of praise and worship leader, director of the youth choir and resident church keyboardist.

It’s hardly surprising Ryan has become an artist to watch. His musical influences are drawn from a wide range of sources, including gospel greats Fred Hammond, Kim Burrell and Daryl Coley as well as neo-soul star Musiq Soulchild, and his talent was honed in the church.

Not content on relying on his natural ability alone, Ryan has enhanced his talents further by studying Vocal Styling at the Academy of Contemporary Music in London and enlisting award winning and accomplished UK gospel artist Noel Robinson and Clinton Jordan as mentors.

Ryan’s investment in his musical gifting has paid off. In 2002, at the age of 15, he won the Talk Gospel Award for best male vocalist and has been in demand ever since to sing at key events across the country.

He has performed at numerous prestigious venues across the UK, including The Hilton, Fairfield Halls, Hackney Empire, Tiger Tiger and the Hard Rock Café and been featured on the albums of leading artists such as Green Jade, Jahaziel, Clinton Jordan, Dwayne Tryumf and G-Force. He’s also appeared on Christian TV, where he was featured on the popular UK Gospel Live show broadcast on Revelation TV where he performed his debut single, ‘Everything I Needed’.

His young age means that not only does Ryan connect well with the young, he also has a strong passion to reach them. Like many people who have grown up in an urban environment, Ryan has been deeply touched by the spate of knife and gun killings during the past 12 months, which have claimed the lives of a rising number of young people. With this fact in mind, Ryan is keen for his music to be seen as edgy enough to capture the attention of teenagers, whatever their religious persuasion, and inspirational enough to touch their hearts with the gospel message of hope and encourage them to make the most of their God given potential.

Ryan’s highly anticipated debut release is scheduled for 8 September 2008 and includes his first popular online and radio track “Everything I Needed” produced by Clint Jordan, lyrics that speak about Christ being everything; “Unconditional Love” a mid tempo track produced by Gavin Holigan talks about God loving us unconditionally. “Words Can’t Explain” also produced by Gavin Holigan is a classic stand out ballad which shows Ryan’s vocal power and range and his ability in delivering a ballad; “Gratitude” produced by Waz’Er Nate can be considered a classic in demonstrating Ryan’s natural neo-soul style.

From the traditional sounding gospel track “Lord Revive Me” produced by Gavin Holigan to the Reggae influenced “Now I’m Ready” featuring award winning ragga artist Watchman (produced by Ricardo Mitchell and Gavin Holigan), to the hip hop flavoured “Didn’t You Know” (produced by Luke Grant ‘GKid’) featuring the UK’s number one holy hip artist Jahaziel Ryan and the rock influenced ”How Much Longer”.

The ‘X factor’ which makes Ryan stand out from all the other up and coming gospel artists, is his unique, soulful vocals. His voice lends itself to many cutting edge urban sounds like neo-soul, soul and r’n’b, as well as the church influenced music styles of Praise and Worship and of course gospel.

It’s due to this musical versatility that Ryan has garnered respect from fellow artists as well as a growing fan base. Ryan invites everyone to listen to the album realising that in this life at one time or another we face challenges and uncertainties that we can overcome as it is all part of our Journey to Purpose. Enjoy.
