Ryan Murphy

Naturally composing free flowing material which touches the soul and inadvertently makes you smile is 22 year old Ryan Murphys passion and has been his greatest asset in achieving accolades from his musical peers.

Growing up in the New South Wales country town of Murwillumbah, (surrounded by a family of professional footballers), Ryans discovery of music in his teenage years came via his father and the family piano. Ryans immediate connection with music and its ability to allow him to temporarily escape reality saw him naturally progress from musician to songwriter. His passion and even more so natural ability became more evident with the recent transition from piano to guitar at the age of 17.

Only two short years after picking up the guitar, Ryan was accepted into the exclusive Queensland Conservatoriums bachelor of popular music degree. With the completion of the degree, Ryan comes to the music industry with not only trained music ability but an understanding of the business requirements to be successful.

Success and recognition has already begun for Ryan by being awarded a Gold Coast Music Industry Peoples Choice Award and further requested by the Fretfest organisers to perform on their stage at the renowned Woodford Folk Festival 2008. Reassuringly signalling Ryans song writing ability is of a high standard, especially to be performing alongside inspirational artists such as Lior, Jeff Lang, Josh Pyke and Ash Grunwald to name a few.

Ryan continues to impress with his composition Hold Onto, being included on the exclusive Acoustica Album in the United States. 272 Records in U.S.A. produced the compilation which included some of Americas finest acoustic artists. With Acoustica gaining rotation on college radio throughout the U.SA.

Further, Thomas Miller took such a shine to the track that he included it in rotation on his radio program the Thomas Miller Show, California. This appreciation of Ryans material continues with Mr Miller still to date including tracks on his myspace music player for the world to enjoy.

Ryan Murphy continues to write everyday out of desire, not expectation, in his never ending flow of self expression.
