Bio

Saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Saranich is here to tell a Story. This 26 year old North Carolina native has been traveling as a performer and as a clinician for years now, spreading the word: “It is all about the music. It is time to tell my Story”
4 years have been spent writing a record that he thought would only ever be a dream. Dreams do come true. For the last 9 months, Ryan and a crew of nearly 100 spent day and night in and out of recording studios in Boston, MA and Charlotte, NC preparing a release that will be a complete surprise to his listeners. When asked why he’s been taking such a big step away from his previous music, Ryan says, “It was just time. I spent years playing things that people really wanted to hear, but I was never able to put the music on paper that I REALLY heard in my head. It is time to take a leap of faith and hope that the world loves the passion and emotion that I have for this type of music. “
The basis for this music stems from two directions: “Pocket Language”, which has toured since 2005, and “Ryan Saranich & the All-Star Quintet”, a Berklee College of Music-based fusion band, which started in 2009 and continues to play together in various forms. The idea of combining this group to create a new outlook in music was the focus. Ryan comments, “When I initially thought about this project, it never occurred to me that it might involve so many people. My thoughts in the beginning were to combine the rhythm section of the ASQ with the horns of Pocket Language and then this crazy idea came up: Why not add strings too? Is there a moment when this can get too big?” Never. Coupled with Berklee-educated producer Young Kim, the record went from a stack of papers, to actual studio recordings within days after Kim discovered the 600 pages of scores for “Story”.
Lucky enough to have toured and recorded for some of the heavyweights of the music industry, Ryan has used every resource and every bit of his own education in this project. “It has been taxing from day one, but in the kind of way that turns you into a workaholic because you love it so much.”, he says.
Outside of his own projects, Ryan has completed countless recordings for a wide range of artists and genres and his own music can be found on 4 continents. As well, he’s been lucky enough to tour as a frontman and as a sideman- a card that few get to play equally. House drummer for the Voice, Nate Morton proclaims:

"Rarely have I seen a player so talented in so many aspects of music and its production. Songwriter, producer and a remarkable multi-instrumentalist, his talents transcend genre. Ryan is a rare breed of renaissance musician."

Ryan is extremely proud to use P. Mauriat Saxophones, Legere Reeds, Theo Wanne Mouthpieces, Curt Mangan Strings, Neotech Saxophone/Bass/Case Straps, and Intellitouch Tuners exclusively.
