Bio

Rye Tye was born Ryan Shelton and grew up on the eastside of Atlanta, Georgia. The youngest of three children, he started rapping at the age of seven. As a child he was inspired by rap legends N.W.A., Dr. Dre, and Jay-Z. With a style all his own, but a sound that is defiantly Georgia. Rye paints a vivid picture of life as a young man coming up in the south.

From the sexy swagger of "Shawty", an ode to the ladies with guest vocals from Daron Jones of 112, to the hard-hitting street sound of "Brain Dead", This southern M.C. covers all bases. Rye Tye has opened for several seasoned artists such as Rich Boy, and Big Boi of Outkast. He has done collaborations with Janelle Monae ("Foot On The Gas"), 112 ("Think Your Lonely"), and Fonsworth Bentley ("Nigga Please").

Rye Tye was kicked out of high school and sent to bootcamp in Savannah, Georgia. In this military-style setting He turned turmoil into triumph. "I started to really take my rhyming seriously" says Rye. With the challenge to stay out of trouble, he never looked back. He honed his skills and caught the attention of film and music video director Brian Barber, who later filmed Rye Tye's first two music videos "Take A Picture" and "Get Like Me". Like so many of his hometown predecessors, Rye Tye aims to become a household name.
