"Reaching for the stars"

A BUDDING young Shepherd's Bush Singer/Songwriter is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Adele, Jessie J and Amy Winehouse.

Oshane Beach already has one thing in common with the hugely successful trio having also graced the prestigious halls of the Brit School.

The Croydon-based school, opened in 1991, has an Alumni that spells out their history of churning out top musical talent with X Factor winner Leona Lewis and singer-songwriter Katie Melua among the roll of honour.

And 21-year-old Mr Beach, of Conningham Road, is hoping to continue to follow in their footsteps and go on to achieve similar success in the industry.

He has taken a giant step towards that dream by signing a deal with Downtown Flashplay Studios and is working on a new album under his stage name Rymza.

"It has been an amazing few months for me to be honest," he told the Chronicle. "I have always been passionate about music and have been rhyming ever since I was old enough to understand words.

"I have always wanted to be unique and different but was going to call myself Rhymes. But my mates told me it would be stupid because of acts like Busta Rhymes who have already made the name their own.

"So I gave it a little tweak and came up with Rymza. Hopefully it will stick out. The Brit School was a cool experience. I was there for a year when I was 18 and it was always a special place.

"It is funny to see some of the people I used to see around know make it big. I want that to be me now."

Mr Beach moved to Shepherd's Bush 18 months ago before spending a few years living in Harlesden.

He admits he has been exposed to the troubled side of urban London where violence and drugs are rife but said his determination to make it in the music business has outweighed other temptations.

He said: "I have had a tough life and upbringing and have had to work really hard to get to this point. I hear a lot of my friends saying they need to hustle to make money but I don't agree with that.

"I could be doing the same things as some of them but that is not what I am all about."
